I don't really have a first day of school that sticks out in my mind other then the first day of 7th grade. That was when I had moved from Utah to Alaska and had not friends and knew no-one. Pretty Scary

Good morning! Thank goodness it is Friday!

I remember my first day of Kindergarten. My bff was already there and when I walked in I wanted to go play with her. The teacher yelled at me, because I hadn’t asked for permission to go to the play area. L needless to say that wasn’t the greatest school ever.

My first day of first grade (different school) was awesome though. I remember wearing a Dirndl (traditional Austrian dress) and walking to school with my mom and falling in love with my first grade teacher. Much better!

Do you remember your first day of school? A memorable first day of school?

Yes, on my first day of school my Dad took me.  I wore a black and white t-shirt dress (BLAH!) and a ponytail holder with little red plastic balls on it.

It was the first time I really began to realize how different I was from the other kids, who were brought to their first day by their mothers.  I distinctly remember thinking, where are their dads.  I was sad for them that their Dads weren't there too...and then I was sad because I didn't understand why I didn't have a mom there.

Ummm, yeah.  My first day of school is an often talked about topic in therapy. :bag

I don't but I do remember my first day of high school. It was terrible. We had just moved the summer right before and I didn't know a single person. Plus I moved from southern california which was a huge city to a small town that couldn't have been more different.

It took a loooong time to feel comfortable going to school but that first day was torture!

OMG, Juni...this was me, too!  Except I moved from a small town to a huge city (Phx), and I was so lost.  Talk about culture shock and feeling so alone, and then to top it off I couldn't go home and cry to Mom because I was living with my brother.  It took awhile, but I eventually got used to it and made some friends.  Definitely a life-changing time for me.

It's funny that there's so much stuff I can't remember, but I do remember the first day of K...well, bits of it anyway. I remember holding Mom's hand as we approached the classroom and trying to be all brave. I remember lots of other kids crying. I remember saying good bye to Mom and then walking in and sitting on a chair. I remember my teacher, she was this old grandmotherly type, very sweet and nice, and she was an Anglo lady (a big deal to me since this was on the rez).

Have i mentioned that one of our big reasons for moving into the city was to get charlie into a good school that we wouldn't have pay for?

it turns out that the school he will attend (there are two possible) are the two best public schools in the city. And we can take him to the daycare and they walk them up in the morning and take them to the afterschool program after.

I am really so excited (although nervous) about this.

That sounds GREAT Sonya! I'm sure Charlie will love it. smile

  Reality bites at such an early age.  My heart really goes out to you on this one.  My ds did not grow up with a father and every time there was something where both parents attend, it stung me clear through.  I can only imagine how hard it is on the child.

I don't remember pre-school a whole lot (aside from my mom making me a wonder woman cake and me wanting to have a piece with her earring on it), but I vaguely remember my first day of kindergarten.

I remember when we went in, there was this little boy, Theotis, who was crying and upset, and I held his hand on the way in so he wouldn't be so scared.

I don't remember anything else from that day!

so tomorrow is tonisa's baby shower, she's due i think nov 10. i made her a blanket, coordinating burp cloths, and a couple hats. plus she'll get a few other things from us, too.

i'm not looking forward to be the only one from don's family there...plus that means i have to kind to her mother...who is at this time on my shit list....i just dont have a use for a woman/mother like her.

PLUS, i just hope the dress i'm going to wear actually looks decent on me...i've gained a good bit of weight since i bought it *note to self....go to cato this evening to find a wide black belt*. on the upside i'm going to wear sexy heels so my calves will look good, and i have great color from tanning

too bad there wont be alcohol.
