My period was always irregular--it's part of why I went on the pill in the first place. When we tried to conceive Ethan, my period was all over the map. It took us a year to conceive Ethan.
So now I went off the pill 4 months ago. My period has come within a day or two of the 28 day cycle I had while on the pill.
Until this month. I'm on day 40. When my period was about a week late from where it had been, I tested. Negative. That was 5 days ago and still nothing and I don't have PMS symptoms either. I've been a bit moody, my breasts were sore one day, I've been a little queasy on and off but that might be from stress, Thursday and Friday last week I was under pressure at work, although in general I handle stress well. I don't usually get sick over it.
So I'm not sure what to do next. I mean I'm not pregnant, I got a negative, but my period hasn't come so I'm just hanging out in limbo. Anything I can do? Any advice? We were going to start temping but I think I need to wait for it to come right?

I would test again....was it 5 days ago that you tested?
my niece had the same irregular cycle and she ended up getting pregnant and when she went to the hospital, they took a test and said it was negative (they did a ct scan of her abdomen and saw fluid) but told her she wasn't pregnant.
She kept testing at home and kept getting very faint lines. she is pregnant and just had an ultrasound to see the baby!
Yep, it was me that didn't get a positive hpt with Hannah (even 2 months along.) - but then again, I've had a string of bad luck related to hpt which makes me wonder why I'm addicted to taking them in the first place.
ANYways, that hpt would have already burnt a hole in my pocket, knowing it was there. I'd just go straight for the blood test. There's no "maybe it's faulty" thinking there, kwim, and the time it takes is worth the peace of mind, one way or another.
I'm totally crossing all my crossables for you, though!
I was also going to suggest to call and ask for a blood test. Fingers crossed for you. Sometimes, things can happen so you don't get a + test on those stick ones.
that is frustrating!!! i am keeping my fingers crossed that you will get a bfp when you test next. if not, i hope that your period regulates a bit so you don't have to go through this.
