Anyone else? He is happy with the classes he got. Not so happy with a semester being devoted to Romeo and Juliet in English. Very happy that he got his computer class(Comp TIA A+). Social Studies, Geometry and INT Biology are the rest of his classes. He had 7 classes last year and 5 this year. He needs to work on his organizational skills and actually study.
Alicia I don't have a high schooler anymore, but i have to say that for me, things became much easier in many ways when my ds started hs. I wish I could say school work was not a problem, but it wasn't as horrible. At any rate I think once they start high school something changes a little and I started to be able to have more fun with my son again. I hope Stephen has a fantastic year!
I don't but we're really close with some of our neighbors and their kids and the first one of the gang started freshman year the other day and it's freaking me out.
If he's in high school, that means some day my kids will be in high school.
Yep, Dylan officially starts high school this year. I can definitely see that h.s. is going to be MUCH different than anything we've done so far. We're already running him here and there for various activities and when school starts I'm sure it will only get worse. We'll be ready for him to be able to drive himself by the time he gets his license next year! He's taking some pre-AP classes this year and had 3 summer projects he had to do. Makes me feel so old to have a high-schooler!!
I do sort of. Rebecca's doing an online school so she can go as fast as she likes. Last year she did a lot extra in Social Studies and Math so she'll be starting 9th grade SS and math while still doing 8th English and Science. I'm going to work hard on getting her through all her 9th grade things this year, so catching up her English and Science. It won't be too difficult for her.
It is 9 weeks. I'm probably using the wrong word for it. Basically one grading period.

oh yes, that makes sense. a marking period (or quarter, depending on your school).
if he has a good teacher, he'll probably be surprised about the story. lots of kids assume it's a love story when actually it's more commonly read as 2 idiot teenagers in "lust" who make some IDIOTIC choices.

I have 2 in high school this year...Damon is a junior and Zachary is a freshman...and as I type this, he is holed up in his room working his butt off to finish his summer reading assignment for pre-ap english...he had to read The Count of Monte Cristo and right some horrendous sized paper on it. Unfortunately not only did I buy the copy that only has 71 chapters (he needed the one with 73 chapters), but he video gamed away his summer...therefore he is stuck doing nothing but this assingment for his last two weeks of vacation. Hopefully he'll have it all done by the 24th when they go back to school.
