The Transition Plan & Premium Membership going forward
Permalink

Here's how the transition is going to work:

1) To get started on the new forums, you will need to go to forums.momsquawk.com and create an entirely new account. No accounts from this forum will be ported... it's our chance to start over, without all of the spambots and whatnot. As a result, because no accounts will be automatically created, it will be easier for all of us to see who's around these days.

2) From now until next Wednesday, going to momsquawk.com will continue to bring you to these forums. To get to the new forums, you'll have to type forums.momsquawk.com in your browser.

3) Next Wednesday, however, going to momsquawk.com will take you to the new forums. To get to these old forums, you'll have to type something new in your browser. (We'll let you know what that is at that time.) These old forums will be closed for new posts at that time.

4) Around the first of September, these old forums will go away completely. We'll tell you more about that once it gets closer to time.

Regarding premium membership going forward, here's the deal -- we are going to continue to charge for premium membership, for two reasons:

1) If we don't charge, we have no real way to differentiate who should be granted a premium membership, versus who shouldn't; and

2) Premium membership fees will be used to support the hosting costs of the site.

We are going to ask everyone who wants a premium membership to send a donation via PayPal to damon@ninthyard.com. The suggested donation is $20 for the year; however, if this creates financial hardship for anyone, please let me know, and we'll figure something out.

I'm sure there will be some questions moving forward, so I'll be monitoring both this thread and the chit chat section on the new board to help make things as painless as possible!

As always... thanks for continuing to hang out here!

will the old posts on MS be going away?

I ask because if so, I need to copy and past a bunch of recipes into a word document.

And I also need to chronicle my pregnancy with Jack Jack.

The recipes will be ported, but that's going to be a manual process... so if there's something you really want to see brought over and you want to bring it over yourself, that would rock!!!

But yes, the old stuff will be going away around the first of September. We'll keep everyone updated as to exactly when that will be as we get closer to time.

Hey Texx-a quick question (and please forgive me if this has been resolved elsewhere and I missed it)...

Is there a way on this new forum to jump to the last read post in a thread? So far it seems you can start at the beginning or jump to the end, but I haven't figured out how to start where you left off.

Thanks Michelle and Damon!
