Holly and I are going to use a fondant kit to decorate some cupcakes tomorrow. I've never worked with fondant (the kit comes with pre-colored blocks of it and some little molds in the shapes of flowers and princess items).
How hard is it to work with? Is there anything I should know beforehand to make it easier/more fun for both of us?
I have only used marshmallow fondant, but. Can say it softens the more you knead it, so I keep powdered sugar nearby to dip my fingers in. Also, I have on occasion put a dab of solid crisco on my hand and rubbed it in, that stops sticking too. And the part you aren't working with needs to be kept covered. I always have saran wrap pieces around for that.

how did it go? i used premade fondant blocks for grace's hello kitty faces on her bday cupcakes. i rolled it out with a rolling pin, then used cookie cutters and edible pens. hope it went well for you!

It went fairly well (these were premade blocks too)!
There were little plastic molds that were a bit tricky to use because they didn't always pop the piece out like they were supposed to (Holly couldn't do them), but we had an awesome time, esp. with the little food pens that also came with. Sounds pretty similar!
