I was going to wait until I got a new stove (our oven door shattered completely when we moved it to put up the backsplash behind it) but, I can't wait to show everyone!

I used the cabinet transformations in Kona (it is not as dark in there as it looks in the pictures - my photography skills suck ;)

adore it!!  (I am so mad I didn't do it earlier).  It was very easy to do. My one advice it to make sure you use a good, quality paint brust (just ask the guys at the store to recommend one).   also, the top coat of poly is very hard to get right, ie. no brushstrokes and I did not master it. twice I had to take it off and re-do it. so not sure what the trick is there.  but, overall, i am very pleased and as you can see, our cabinets were really in bad shape :shame

also, it has held up great :)

Oh I wanted to add that if anyone is thinking of doing the dark color - do it!! pictures are so deceiving when it comes to how much light is in the room. It does not feel dark and cramped in there at all (although I admit the pictures give that impression.) and that was my HUGE fear and why I held off for so long (if anyone remembers, I had been thinking about this for almost three years :eyeroll)

 this.

and also, how many hours do you think it took you to do the kitchen?

did you have help or did you do them alone?

how was it staining the cabinet frames?

how did you fill the holes from the old hardware?

Erin - I did take the doors down. It's not hard (even I could do it ;) I painted the frames with the same paint, April. and the holes were covered up by new hardware so we didn't drill new holes or anything. I did it alone and I would say it took me about three days. but, it was SO worth it (especially if you hate your kitchen like I hated mine ;) *If* i had newer cabinets, I probably would not do it, however. just because it is hard to get the "factory" finish of a new cabinet, kwim?
