I have a Windows HTC smartphone that I love but it is going haywire. It got left out in the sun and fried my battery. I bought a new battery and it started working again for a week. Now all of a sudden it is acting up... sometimes people can't hear me and today it just randomly started vibrating and won't stop unless I turn it off. When I turn it back on it non-stop vibrates. Anyay, I am do for my free upgrade anyway so I can get a free phone. I'm having a hard time choosing between another HTC surround (the same phone I already have and love) or an iPhone.
I know the iPhone has tons of protective case options that the HTC phone just don't have and I've already had to replace the screen in this phone because I dropped it on concrete and shattered the screen. So the main thing drawing me to it is the protection aspect.
So any iPhone users out there? Do you love your phone? Does an iPhone work ok when it is synced with a PC?
I super duper love mine! But we are an apple family, have been for years. We have macs, I pads, iPhones, and appleTV to watch our video library around the house. We have hundreds of movies and even more tv shows!
kari - DH and I both have them. I got one first. DH always thought they were overkill. Within 2 weeks of me having one he got one.
it has a GPS on it which I use alot
I check the weather.
I get all my e-mail both personal and DH's business
I take tons of pictures and videos and then save them to my computer
I use the Ipod in the car all the time.
I was in Half Price Books the other day and needed to know the author of a book and looked that up. You can price compare while shopping, get reviews on items before you buy them (I did that while trying to purchase a blu ray player last x-mas).
I know you Twitter - I do that and FB on my phone.
You can get the Nook app (free) and read books on your phone.
there are tons of free games/apps.
When I first got it I thought I wanted a blackberry . . . the att salesperson told me if I didn't like the Iphone I could return it for the blackberry . . . I never did!
I was resistant to the iPhone, but DH talked me into getting one a few years ago.
I LOVE IT. I use it a lot more than I thought I would.
I have tons of free apps. It's great because I can check my bank balance if I'm out and about, check my email, ebay, etc. It's also very handy when I'm with the girls because if we're in a restaurant or something and they're getting restless, they can play games on my phone.
I don't have an iphone but I have an android phone and I LOVE it. Everything that everyone is mentioning here are things I use my phone for. I have the kindle app on my phone that I can use if I wanted to. Just another option - I'm not sure how much the iphone service plan is but I think the package I have through sprint with my phone is a lot cheaper so we went with that. I have the navigation, and lots of apps on my phone that I use all the time. :)

I second this. Kari, you might like an HTC phone with Android, since you love your HTC Surround so much. Check out the Evo and the Hero (I have the Hero 'cause it was cheaper, but the Evo is also awesome). I use my phone all the time for reading, GPS, lists, FB, you name it.
I bet there are good protectors out there, but you may find more with more popular HTC models; I don't know (I should have something but don't on mine aside from a little screen protector) and I haven't really shopped around to see what's out there.

I agree with this.
I'm a mac person but couldn't justify the cost of an iphone. I love my droid. My one complaint is that I seem to run out of memory quite a bit. I'm guessing I need to upgrade what I have but I've been too lazy to look into it.

We have the same phone and I've had the same issue. My problem was that I had WAY too many pictures and videos on there. Once I uploaded those to my computer and got rid of them on my phone it was much better. Also, I'm better about closing running programs and that helps avoid that low memory notification. I also clear out a lot of the programs (cache or whatever) every now and then. I haven't had that issue in a while now since I've done that.

how do you clear the cache? I will need to try that.
