we have ivy signed up for an art class and swimming.  we may do little gym again this year in Jan.  Not sure yet b/c it was more expensive than the Y and i'm not positive it iw worth it although she loved the teachers.

what are your little ones doing this year?

Erin - is Kiera still doing Karate?

Kelly - how is Rachel doing with piano?  I am anxious to hear all about it :)

Soccer, Basketball, MAYBE ice hockey learn to skate.

Maybe cub scouts if he asks.

At some point in the next couple years we will begin violin lessons.  We need to find the right instructor, and we need to be sure he is going to be patient enough to go.

Joe does Karate 3x/week and right now he is doing a HipHop dance class but he only has a couple more weeks left of that. Oh and he wants to do the 'Brick4Kidz' program after school (http://www.bricks4kidz.com/program-events/after-school-programs/). I'm trying to keep his load light this year since he has homework almost every night too and he keeps having crying outbursts about how he doesn't have time to play at home anymore since school started.

Bel (just shy of 4) does Ballet 1x/week and she wants to do the extended day gymnastics program at her school this year.

just piano for now.  she's actually having trouble motivating for piano these days. she's telling me she's sick of it. but that's totally R - once something is a challenge for her, she gives up.  i'm not letting her give this up this easily - i spoke with her teacher today - we're backing up a little bit and taking it slower, and i think i'm doing some kind of reward system for practicing, etc - i have to decide.  but she's totally tired of it already.  ug.

we're not quitting though.

i promised her i wouldnt make her do anything else after school - she doesnt want to try anything new.  we have piano, then she has religion one day after school, and im working one day - i'm reserving the other days for just quiet time or playdates.

yup, Kiera does tae kwon do, soccer and gymnastics. We stopped tae kwon do for the summer and switched to gymnastics, but she loves it so much I dont want her to have to give it up. (But, we laugh that we just want Kiera to have enough skill to celebrate her soccer goals by doing a back flip. That is as far as we want her to go in gymnastics).

We had to change Tae Kwon do places because her small studio (?) closed. She now goes to one that is MUCH larger, has tons more kids, but also lots more classes and resources. So- there is now a class for Rhys too, and he LOVES it. They go once or twice a week. Soccer is just now starting, and now they have practice once a week, so we will see how that goes. This is the first year I am not her coach, so I am hoping she blossoms a bit more as a soccer player. But, no pressure. If its not her thing we are okay with that.

Im struggling with how much she does, but, I also want her to find something she likes. We have gone ice skating informally, and will continue to do that on occasion, but no lessons. Same with drawing and dance classes. On occasion she will go to one or two.

Rhys does tae kwon do and gymnastics. Loves them both. Gymnastics will be shortlived for him though since his true passions lie with soccer, and baseball. Though Im not sure he will have the patience for organized baseball. I dont. (Sorry Alicia and Sara C. lol).

em and jake take swimming lessons after school on mondays.

jake does gymnastics on thursdays.

emily has been DYING to take ballet. our old (moved away) babysitter takes classes at an in-home studio that is VERY low-key and does a punch-card system instead of a session schedule. this is perfect for us and i'm about to bite the bullet and enroll her.

Marcos swims every day from 4:00 to 6:00pm. He loves it. He is in scouting. He was in baseball but is too much for me to handle. He also wants to try basketball.
I want to put him in some dancing lessons. We'll see.

I think swimming is so great!!   Ivy is not at the point where she "loves" it but she is getting used to it.  I feel it is so important for her to be comfortable in the water and know basic safety stuff.   I almost drowned as a child and so I am still afraid of water :bag:

jolynn....i couldn't believe thos drawings of Kevins - they are really good!!  definitely look like for a child much older.   Ivy also loves drawing and i love how creative she gets with it - i never could draw and got discouraged very easily by it.  luckily, she doesn't take after me in that department ;)

how does Kyle like basketball?  i think it is so cute to watch them play when they are that age.

that sounds like an awesome set up, april!!  I am so afraid of getting ivy involved in dance with a :crazy teacher - i definitely want her to be in a low key setting as well.  i should keep my eye out for something similar.  let me know how emily likes it!!

oh that's too bad!! but, you are so right about sticking it out - once she gets some real success under her belt, i bet she will absolutely love it!!
