Breakfast before school?

Just curious to know what your kids usually get for breakfast before they go to school?

I was a major crab this morning, just tired and feeling like I'm not getting enough rest.  Anyway, I came downstairs with about 40 mins before Kyle needed to leave for school and asked DH if they'd had breakfast yet.  He said, "Yeah, they had cereal."

I snapped at him, "And you think that's enough?!"  Oops.

My mom made hot breakfast for us more often than not when I was young (in HS it was kind of fend for yourself since I lived with my brother), and I guess I'm of the thinking that's what my kids need.  Or in the least, a piece of fruit or something else to balance out just cold cereal.

When I'm up earlier and in a better mood I usually get them a waffle and make eggs, or if not eggs then some yogurt and fruit.

My kids have a variety of foods at breakfast time.

Charlie normally has pancakes (mike makes a big batch and then we freeze them - reheat in toaster) and milk and fruit. He likes oatmeal too (crockpot)

Josie likes waffles, yogurt, fruit, cereal or toast.

Mike is bigger on breakfast than i am. I've completely given up feeding them breakfast unless he isn't here. He's made them too fussy, lol.

erm, rarely a hot breakfast here. I just give them a choice between cereal, toast or oatmeal. Joe will sometimes say he isn't hungry so will just end up with an apple. If I am making eggs for me and dh the kids will usually have some, but they never request them. tbh, and this will probably sound bad, they often end up just raiding our plate of whatever we are having because they aren't hungry or don't fancy anything until they see it on our plates.

We are not morning people.
Last year Ethan rarely ate breakfast before school. But he had lunch at 10:25, which is the time we would normally eat on the weekend so I figured it was fine.
This year his lunch is at 11:30. He either eats a yogurt (I buy gogurts or dannon crushers so he can eat while we go to the bus/drive to school) or cereal in a baggy (also eaten on the move).

Weekends we do more elaborate stuff but not happening during the week when Ethan usually wakes up about 15 min before we have to leave and I usually get up only about 15 mins before that--if I'm motivated.

my kids go to daycare and get breakfast 3 days a week.  There is always a hot entree but they rarely pick it - they both want cereal and oj.  Kate will eat scrambled eggs on Tuesday and they both eat a turkey sausage patty on Thursdays but other than that they always opt for the cold cereal.

when we're home Kate has pancakes every.single.day.  I buy the mini ones frozen most times and she has those and blueberries and oj.  if I make a big batch I will freeze them and she has those but most times it's the frozen ones in the microwave.  On the days she doesn't want pancakes she wants oatmeal, plain with just a splash of milk in it.

Jake wants frosted mini wheats every single day so he has those sometimes dry, sometimes with milk and a glass of oj.

Ditto to this.  We are downstairs about 5 minutes before Im yelling at them to get in the car. My kids get to choose from the following based on what we have on hand:

A gogurt

An applesauce pouch

A peanut butter and jelly or honey sandwich (this is usually it, they cant have PBJ to school, so they get it at breakfast)

An Eggo with butter, or made into a PBJ "eggo sandwich"

A slice of toast with cinnamon and a bit of sugar.

They also usually have a cup of milk right when they get up before they get dressed. They only get a bowl of cereal when we have extra time. lol.

Henry eats a poptart (either Wild Berry or unfrosted blueberry) plus some goldfish crackers and some cheese slices or a couple slices of bacon. I make sure that Henry has either cheese or bacon so he'll have some protein and will stay full longer. Once in a blue moon, I'll get up early enough to make blueberry muffins or cinnamon rolls. Or if we're out of poptarts, Henry will have cheese toast. Sometimes I'll put some grapes on Henry's plate too, and he'll eat them.

Mark doesn't usually eat breakfast. He's too grumpy in the morning plus they have snack between 9 and 9:30 at school. I usually send a small bag of something--goldfish, little cookies, pretzels. When he does eat breakfast, it is a poptart (same flavors as Henry) with all the crusts cut off.

My mom didn't make me hot breakfast every morning before school. I'd get a couple poptarts or some kind of toast. Well, I guess they were "hot" because they were toasted but she didn't scramble eggs or anything in the mornings. Sometimes I would eat a cup of dry cereal because I didn't like it with milk on it. If it was a really great morning, my mom got up early and made blueberry muffins.

The kids are usually up between 6:30-7:00 here and we head out the door for school by 8:40 so they can get time on the playground before school starts. So there is plenty of time here for sit down breakfasts. Guess I'm just more willing to make something for them than Dom is.

He and I usually will have oatmeal every morning which the boys don't prefer.

We don't do mornings... I'm going to try to get better about it, but really, I'm kinda fine with it. We do cereal, instant oatmeal, cinnamon-sugar toast, or pop-tarts. Basically grab and go.

I am actually not a fan of hot breakfast everyday. We reserve that for the weekends because unless I can convince them to eat scrambled eggs, which isn't often, it is pancakes or waffles and a breakfast meat-all doused in maple syrup. I feel like that should be more of a treat kind of thing than an everyday meal.

That said, once in a while I will do waffles for breakfast before school. Most of the time though, it is yogurt and fruit, toast and fruit or cereal and fruit. Once in a while, we'll do muffins, but again, those are so sugary that I try to limit them. I'd like for them to eat more protein at breakfast, but don't want them eating the traditional bacon or sausage. They never seem to want PB in the mornings!

Anna's lunch last year was at 10:30am, so it wasn't a terribly long time before she was eating again. This year it will be at 11am. Kate is not much of a breakfast eater. But she has snack at school at about 10:30as well.

I get them up at about 7am during the year, and we have to be out the door by 7:50 at the very latest-that is barely enough time without me cooking breakfast, tbh. It takes them a while to get up and get moving!!

Mike's mom always made full breakfasts with lots of options. Mike feels like that is what we should do. I grew up with cereal or toast so I feel less like I need to do that for the kids.

Half the time they won't even eat it if we make eggs, etc.

They will always eat sausage but I feel like there's a limit to how much sausage a person should eat, lol.

breakfast before school here is usually a cereal bar, fruit and yogurt. my kids are the slowest eaters ever so even if i got up at the crack and made a big breakfast they wouldn't have time to eat it.

Breakfast varies here and is/will be largely dependent on time. I do sometimes make her an egg of some sort, but we also do yogurt, cold cereal, and oatmeal. If I have some type of breakfast food in the freezer, that's an option. To be honest, E sometimes has chicken nuggets, pbj or pb & nutella sandwich, hot dog, or some other non breakfast food. She sometimes has fruit too. Maybe I am in the minority, but I don't really care if it's breakfast food she eats in the morning. It just needs to have something that can give her some fuel to start her day.

I could be up 4 hours early and still wouldn't make breakfast, it's just not my thing LOL

Lucas usually eats dry cereal out of the box while watching TV. If I am feeling super awesome he gets it in a bowl with milk and if I am going for mother of the year he gets a toasted waffle or english muffin.

Breakfast goes like this..."GRAB YOUR GRANOLA BAR IF YOU WANT SOMETHING BEFORE YOU GET TO MIMI'S HOUSE. NOW! WE'RE LATE!!! I SAID NOW!!!"

They have time at my parent's house before they have to go to school and get an actual breakfast there. Honestly, though, when I take them to school they get a granola bar/yogurt or some toast. We just don't have the time and they aren't big on breakfast. They eat cereal without milk, and they don't like eggs. They love waffles but that's more of a weekend treat.

Lucas usually gets his own breakfast....either cereal, cereal bar, or yogurt. Once in a while he will request I make him something oatmeal, cheese grits, or eggs (cooked in the microwave). He sometimes also has a plain waffle.

Cheerios w/milk

Toast

Fruit Bar

Yogurt with Grape Nuts

Pancakes (pre-made and frozen)

If they are super lucky, we have eggos as a treat in the freezer that week.

That is about it.  Koda is NOT a breakfast person, Tristen likes all of the above and usually eats enough for two kids.

I hardly make hot breakfast ever. We do not eat a lot of stuff like pancakes, etc. I mean, that to me is more a special weekend morning thing. I do not view that kind of stuff as food that I want to eat daily. We do not do sausage, bacon, etc. Again, special occasion or if we go out to breakfast.

I do make a egg frittas or something like that, but not more then once a week. Maybe scrambled eggs here and there.

We just do like the others - cereal with fruit or oatmeal is pretty much a morning staple at our house. Even when it is not school, I do not do big breakfast "hot" meals. Waffles/Oatmeal are about the only thing that we do in the morning that is hot. Yogurt is big at our house.

I am not a stickler on having to eat certain things at certain times of day. We often even eat light at dinner with fruit, yogurt, etc. Most people think that is weird and you have to have a hearty meal. Food is just food to me, so it does not bug me. As long as we are full and good. My kids eat so well that it does not bother me.

usually cereal, instant oatmeal, eggo waffles, or frozen pancakes, that is as fancy as it gets through the week here.
