Dan Gutman is a children's book author. We have his whole "Weird School" series plus "The Homework Machine", "Million Dollar Shot", and "The Christmas Genie".
I'm on his fb fan page, and this morning he asked if any of us live in Memphis, TN. I replied that I did, and he said he was going to be visiting here and had some questions. I sent him an email from his website, and he replied with his phone number so I replied with my phone number.
And he called!!
He's doing some research for a book in which some kids travel across the country and stop at Graceland. So he asked me about distances between the airport and Graceland, walking distance between Sun Studios and the Civil Rights Museum and stuff like that. Sadly I didn't know the answer to any of his questions, and I haven't been to any of those places.
He did say someone told him Graceland was not in a nice part of town, and I did know that was true.
He was really nice and told me I was helpful (even though I wasn't), and he said to say hi to the kids.
In fact, I was so surprised the first time I went...it's like you're driving on the highway, and then BAM! There you are..I didn't know it was right on the road! But I guess back then, they didn't feel like stars had to be hidden way back in the sticks, lol
