Just got back from the OB.  He asked me to come in to draw more blood.  My progesterone was low this time (it was normal when he drew it a week earlier).  He said it was 6.  I have no idea what it is supposed to be.

He said my HCG was 896 and he seemed OK with that.  So, it was at 235 at 4w6d and 896 at 5w6d.  He seemed more concerned about my progesterone.  He looked pretty nervous and kind of freaked me out.

He started me on Prometrium, but only because I asked to be put on it.  He seemed hesitant and I'm not sure why.  He wanted to wait until my test results come back tomorrow, but when I asked him why he couldn't just put me on progesterone he went ahead and prescribed it.

So, I'm supposed to call in to get my blood results tomorrow, and I have another appointment to go in on Thursday.  He cancelled my scan for tomorrow because he said he thinks it is too early.

I'm definitely feeling nervous now.  I hate this being in limbo cry

I am sorry this is so stressful. I am glad you have your progesterone. I had low progesterone with Elizabeth and had to take it and things were a little iffy at first. Obviously it ended up just fine. I will keep you in my prayers and send lots of very sticky baby vibes your way.

Crystal, I am so glad your HCG levels are looking good-that is GREAT!!! And don't worry. Yes, Sara was on progesterone, I am still on it (I take my last pill tonight!), it is a safe medication to be on and a very easy fix for the low progesterone. My SIL Jaime has been on it too-she was for her last pregnancy and is already again with this one.

I am really glad you went ahead and got him to prescribe it-IDK why he would be hesitant to do so anyway. I got on it before I even got pg. After I started charting, my chart + symptoms in the second half of my luteal phase all lined up to look like low progesterone. So he prescribed it for me without so much as a blood draw. He said it wouldn't hurt, and we would do blood work with my next cycle. Except I got pregnant, and here we are almost 15 weeks later!

I know it is hard, but do try not to worry. And I think it was wise of him to cancel the u/s. You really can't see anything this early. I had one with Kate, and all they saw was an empty sac, so I went back in past 7 weeks and all was fine. But I sat around wondering for a week and a half.

Hang in there, Crystal. I am sending lots of prayers!

I think your second beta is ok too. I have read lots of stories about ivf m/c, and the beta kinds hovers and hardly moves- yours took a huge jump!

Good on you for forcing the progesterone.

The slowness of your blood draws/ results is frustrating! But you are now in progesterone and that's the only possible thing you can do to help, so that's done and im sorry you doc is giving you weird vibes:

Thanks for the support, ladies. Muffy's and Sara tha you for the information. I'm glad he put me on progesterone so at least I feel like I'm doing all I can. I am normally not good about being pushy and then I end up home feeling like I should have pushed harder, so I'm glad I did.

I call today to get my new blood results and I go back in tomorrow to draw some more and probably get checked. I feel sad, but realize that it is out of my hands now so I just have to wait and see what happens.

Thinking of you Crystal. I'm glad you spoke up and asked for the progesterone.  I'll be watching for your updates.  I know these days of waiting are not easy.  Big hugs to you.

I remembered that over 1,000 and you can see the sac on u/s. And over 6,500 you can see the fetal pole (and sometimes heartbeat).

Soon, you doc should be doing u/s rather than betas.

I was looking for proof to back up, and this link has stats. It also says it is normal fir beta to double every 1 to 3 days... So i do think your beta jump is sufficient to still consider this a healthy pregnancy! smile.gif

Here is the link...

http://www.ivillage.com/when-can-your-baby-be-seen-ultrasound/6-n-138634

Also, if you are as obsessed with beta analyzing as I was, the
Betabase site I linked earlier there is a tab for doubling time calculator. You input the betas abs the time and date of each draw, and it automatically calculates your doubling time. So easy, you done need to work about draws 48 hours apart. Then you can compare to doubling charts.

Thanks, Megan. I got my bloods back that were taken yesterday and they were 1296. So, they are slowly going up, but definitely not doubling fast enough. Who knows, maybe being put on progesterone will help, but I wonder if I waited too long to get on it. I go back in for another blood draw tomorrow.

Yeah, going up but not really quickly enough.

Ugh, it is so hard to tell in instances like this. I am still cheering on your little bean!

The only thing to do is wait. Sending big ((hugs)).

I have lost most hope.  Yesterday, I noticed that I just didn't *feel* pregnant any more.  Normally, my lower abdomen has just been sensitive and it feels like there was something there.  When Mason would want to lay on me, I keep having to readjust because it was uncomfortable for him to be on my tummy.  But, yesterday he was laying on me and I noticed that it didn't feel that way any more no

Then, last night I started getting bad back pain, so I am just waiting for the bleeding to come.  I go back in today for more tests, but I just feel like it is over.
