Accent Color with Black and White....

In February, I'm going to be redecorating our living room.

Right now everything is burnt rusty orange, brown, and baby blue.

I'm tentatively switching the decor to black and white damask, with curtains very similar to this...

Anyways, so I'm starting to think about what I want to do to offset it with an accent color... Right now my front runners are a steel or robin's egg blue, peridot, or a pumpkin orange. I'd put pink in the front runners, too, but Joe would probably shank himself in the face.

Ideally, I wouldn't change up a ton of the other decor, because I really like it, so I'll show you what I'm working with already on my walls... Oh, and the current paint color is a pale khaki (like private school uniform khaki.) but I'm not opposed to repainting, although ideally I'd do it slowly and just start with one accent wall, and keep the other 3 some sort of neutral shade.

Couches.
Coffee Table.
Gigantic a** star.
Panel Art.
Picture Frames.

(I'm kidding about the coffee table, btw. I couldn't find mine... which are not even remotely similar, before you ask, lmao.)

So anyways.... suggestions?

i like the peridot idea.  i also think red would be nice, and maybe joe wouldn't mind it as much as pink :)

DITTO! I think red is a fantastic accent color - especially with B&W.

I really like red too, but I think I can see where you might be going with this. I am guessing you want updated, but not expected.

Anyway, here are my thoughts. I think given what you have and being on a budget, I would go with the pumpkin color. It has some yellow tones in it which will bring in the colors of your sofa and walls along with your art work and picture frames. You could also get away with the peridot for the same reason, although it might take a few transition pieces like throw pillows to kind of pull the colors all together.

Whatever color you get, you could get a blank white canvas and buy some fake plants. Paint the leaves to make kind of like a stamp and print them on the canvas to pull the colors together. Granted you could do something other than leaves, but probably don't want it to be too modern to go in the room. I don't know how good your craft skills are but you could even trace random parts of the curtain pattern and paint them the black and whatever color you choose. Just a thought.

Oh, and you should save every penny and get that coffee table.!

My first thought was any color green.  Then I saw you had peridot.  :)  I saw go for an assortment of greens.

Girl...I know you may kill me :bag but, honestly, I don't think black and white looks good *unless* you have other furniture that is white, ie. your couch is white and your tables are black, etc.

but, i think that you are probably in love with the damask pattern (which I do too) and so I was looking and found a chocolate brown damask curtain that I think would look fabulous with what you already have and really shake things up a bit!!

Re accent color...I think that if you did go with the chocolate, since it is a warmer color, I think the orange would look great.

Lmao, I adore you.

Def. don't want to kill you - Idk for sure that'll it'll all pull together, but all the trim in the house is white (we have crown molding, window trim, throughout) and half of our accent furniture is black (along with the leather bottoms of the couches). I'm mainly cashing in on some stuff my gf is getting rid of that I've been in love since she picked it up, but she changes decor like the wind, lol.

You may very well be right, I probably need to look into it a bit more. I need to figure out this mood board stuff. I could put you to work day and night, girl!
