Lucas has a wonderful teacher this year and I would love to do something nice for her and her parapro. Any awesome suggestions?

gift cards.

love to give gift cards to teachers. even if it's a small amount, i think they are great gifts.

i would definitely avoid food b/c SO many people do that.

i think i'm going to do starbucks cards inside coffee mugs for em's teachers and therapists.

I agree with gift cards.  I'm getting MB's teachers Barnes & Nobles cards.

My question is - do I give the teacher's aid the same amount as the teacher?

Ditto on the giftcards. I used to think it seemed like it wasn't personal enough, but then I realized, I don't *know* them personally, so it's completely okay, lmao. The fact of the matter is that they get used, and that's what everyone wants to get (something they can enjoy) and that's what everyone wants to give (something that will be enjoyed.) Done and done. I do try to package it cutely, as April suggested.

And we do give the aid less than the teacher, normally. This year we won't because Hannah rarely talks about her teacher, but constantly talks about how helpful and kind the aid is.

i agree with leah on the amount.

sometimes the aides work more closely with certain students then others.

i will do 2 gift cards to the 2 teachers who rotate in jake's class. then em does AM enrichment at her school and goes to PM kindie. i'll get a gift card for the teacher and the director in the AM and a gc for the teacher in the PM. but then she also sees 3 therapists so they will each get one. phew. that's a lot of gift cards. i'm thinking $10 each along with the little packaged goodies, so i'll drop $60 on gift cards and then a few other items.

i'd put more on the gift cards if i didn't have to buy for so many.

Awesome thanks!

I think I'll go for a giftcard and stop stalking his teacher's facebook page for hints of things she likes!

I'm just wondering where you are getting giftcards for. I think it should be something fun and frivolous like Starbucks or B&N but dh thinks we should get Target or Walmart cause then they can get their groceries or something.

I'm liking the gift card idea this year! I ran into Hannah's teacher at Target a couple weeks ago and we all talked about how much we loved Target so i'm going to do a giftcard there and package it cutely though I don't know how yet! Maybe in a Christmasy cup or something?

I was thinking Target. (None of our Targets are Super Targets so chances are they would buy something for themselves) I would do starbucks but there are none in our city and I'm not sure if his teacher likes coffee. I know she likes diet coke.

You could totally make that a really cute and appealing gift by putting the gift card with a glass bottle six pack of diet coke and maybe some sort of goodies in one of those clear basket bags and write on the card something like "have a refreshing holiday" or "for when something pops up" (but don't know if they call it pop or soda where you are).  I am sure you can think of something to write on there too.

I made one for Hannah's kindy teacher last year like the second April linked. She loved it! I put magnetic bookmarks, antibac hand gel, a notepad, chocolates and all kinds of stuff in there. Super fun and they are so cute. Hmmm maybe i'll do that again with the giftcard and a few other little things.

Ditto on the 2L bottle stuff - they were a hit with Hannah's teachers last year in pre-k, too.

corey, i love the paint cans and the marbles.

definitely thinking about tackling the marbles and the paint cans may be a great solution for me b/c i can't find anyone to donate their empty 2L bottles to me.

thanks!

april,

a decorated altoid tin like this would be a cute magnet container if you are feeling super crafty;)
