Hand-made gifts from your children?

What are some hand-made items that your children could make for you that you would actually like and/or use?

All ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

Robin we have one of those pottery places here, Hannah did her handprint in spoon rests a couple years back for her nanny and grammy and my mom, went over SO well. Ours has all kinds of things the kids can paint and then they fire them. Love them!

What about pot holders? Ornaments? Coupons for things like hugs and taking out the trash? A decorative box?

Thanks for the ideas! I was thinking of inviting some of the kids' friends over to our house (so their parents could have a date night) and thought we'd do some crafts. Then I thought it would be fun to make stuff they could wrap up for their parents for Christmas. But I didn't want it to be some paper throw-away thing. And it has to be doable in my house. Or in my yard. And not too expensive.

Ornaments is not a bad idea. I was thinking possibly placemats. Plus I have some plastic trays that we used at art camp at church to make stepping stones so I'd just need a small bag of concrete mix.

Good ideas!

Any more?

You all can also tell me hand-made stuff you've received from your children or other children that you really didn't like. Or threw away immediately.

I won't tell the children. I promise.

Brenna's church class drew on (with markers) wash cloths and dish cloths for Mother's Day last year. Simple and I use them all the time. Most of the marker has come off, but I still think of what was there every time I use them.

I have done those travel coffee cups with inserts - so you can decorate the insert with photos or drawings or whatever, then insert it into the travel mug. voila. I pick up the travel mugs at starbucks for around $10, but, Im sure there are similar kids at Bed Bath and Beyond or somesuch.

Huge fan of Christmas ornaments :)  Huge.  I love looking back at ones that they made back in daycare.  My mom still has ones I made in Nursery School and they are her favorites.

Dollar Tree had some of these a while back as well.  I haven't been in there in quite a bit, but might be worth a look.

I love those Starbucks mugs. We do those a lot... I even bought a template so I could insert pictures and change backgrounds and make better inserts than I could make myself. Hmm, I need to check and see if they have more of those this year.

DD's preschool painted little pots and filled them with soil and one of those christmas plant cuttings (the ones that you can't kill =P). Her grandma still has it 2 years later. And the plant is huge!

We did the same thing for the grandma's and they loved it too! You can definitely find these pretty cheap.

Mine hasn't.

They sell them at Dollar Tree, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that those do, but all the ones that I have from Starbucks haven't had any problems. I don't even think they are supposed to go in the dishwasher for that reason, but I put mine in without issues. In fact, all mine have pictures of Hannah from when she was 2 yo, because I haven't gotten around to changing them.
