I'm not pg yet, as far as I know (I am in the 2WW), but Bill and I do yoga 3 nights a week together. It is a low key type, more of a meditative/relaxing kind of routine (we do things like child's pose, gait pose, warrior, down dog, staff, head to knee, some others, but nothing terribly strenuous), but there are all these warning in the beginning about if you are pg.
So now I am freaking out about it, lol. I am thinking, well, what if I get pg but because I am doing this yoga, I mess up my tiny embryo or something! But I don't want to stop doing yoga!!
Basic jist-I am looking for reassurance that I can keep doing this until such time as I (maybe) get a BFP-assuming one ever comes, of course. I think it is silly to avoid doing it on just the possiblity of getting pg, but want to be safe, kwim?
Yoga was not an issue for me in previous pregnancies, lmao, thus the question now!
I know many women who do yoga through pregnancy. I think they have to put warning on any exercise for pregnant women for liability. I am no doc, but I had a women 6 mo preggo next to me. If you have been doing it then I think it would be fine. If it worries you, then wait the two weeks. I have a pregnancy yoga one I can send you when you do find out. It is not as intense as some other yoga dvd's.
Ok-thank you ladies!! I bet you are right-it is likely for liability purposes. Like I said, it is not a real strenuous routine or anything. And I really really enjoy doing it. It has helped my flexibility, plus it is good overall for my posture and just how I feel emotionally. So I don't want to stop for 2 weeks out of every month, kwim? That seems silly.
Melissa, now that you mention that, I think I might even have a pregnancy yoga something or other around here. IDK if it is VHS or DVD, lol. I will have to look for it!
You can still do yoga now! As I understand, The pregnancy issue is abdominal muscle strain once you are a bit further on, and the loosening of the ligaments in the hips etc., but that as well further along in a pregnancy.
In fact the deep breathing etc. Could even be helpful.

Thanks Megan!! That makes sense. I had never really thought about this before because I was not doing any yoga before. And ITA-I think the deep breathing, meditative quality of doing it could definitely be helpful.
Now let's hope I actually can get pg sometime!! :)
I did yoga throughout my whole last pregnancy. When I couldn't do serious cardio anymore, after around week 20, it was a lifesaver. I obviously just couldn't do any of the poses where I laid on my stomach.
