New Target Red Debit Card
Permalink

so today at check out the cashier was telling me that the new 5% discount on every purchase is for their new DEBIT card that links to your existing checking account.

i had no idea!

i stopped using my target credit card years ago b/c it was just one more bill to pay every month.  But a debit card that comes out of my existing account AND gives me 5% off every purchase?

i might be in on this deal.

anyone else considering it or already do it?

tia!

I have not heard about this yet. Would my bank then charge me a surcharge since it's not issued by them?

I still use my red card-they have the same 5% off everything, and I use it pretty much only at Target, so it isn't a huge deal for me.

But I prefer paying with credit most of the time!

ETA-I was kind of annoyed that they did away with their 10% shopping pass thing-that was good. But I still only used that card there because I earn better rewards elsewhere. I do think the debit card is a great idea though-and I am interested to hear if it has fees or not!
