Another good friend who is pregnant is having some itching issues. There's no rash, and she's only in her second trimester, so I don't think it's PUPPS.
She may want her liver enzymes tested still. My friend had tons of itching and it ended up being her liver and the bile was backing up into her system or something of that nature.
I didn't have just itching, but with Catherine I had pregnancy related prurigo, a relative of pups and was m.I.s.e.r.s.b.l.e.
For that itch, I used eucerin cream, which I know is safe for pregnancy. I also used a doctor prescribes cortisone cream which is safe during pregnancy, but had to quit cold turkey on birth day and had a huge flare head to toe the weeks after the birth.
Also, when the itching would drive me crazy I would hop into a really really hot shower which would sting as the histamines released, then a minute later I would turn the water ice cold to cool myself down.
Sounds like Chinese torture, but was the only thing to stop scratching myself raw. I often did that in the middle of the night. A few times per night even.
I was in pure hell.
I hope your friend is fairing better that I did.
And I recommend her seeing/ telling her doctor in any case as these itches can be liver related and I had to take blood tests to ensure that what I had was nit liver related or they would have induced early.
