Does your '05er have friends in his/her class that s/he knew before school started?

Does s/he have friends in other classes at the same school?

Has s/he made some good friends at school already?

Have YOU made friends with any of the other parents?

Mason only knew one kid in his class from preschool, and it was one he didn't like, naturally.  But they play together all the time at school now.

The two of them know one other kid in another kindy class from pre-k - another one Mason didn't like, LOL.  Those other two boys were kind of the bullies at Mason's pre-k, so I was disappointed when I found out they were going to be in his school, especially because they are the ONLY ones from his pre-k there.  (And their moms could not be bitchier.)

Mason has already made a BFF, which I'm not surprised about!  This kid is a very sweet little boy, and the two are so much alike.  And their birthdays are 2 days apart!  They are so cute together - they always hug when they say goodbye.

So I struck up a conversation with his mom at pick-up last week and she's really nice.  We're going to all go to SeaWorld after school one day soon.

Raven's knew one girl in her class from preschool. There were/are great friends.

Almost all of her preschool friends are in the same school since that is where they went to preschool. She sees them in the hall, recess, lunch, etc.

I just had her home visit today with her teacher and she said she has a lot of friends in class. She's in a great class when it comes to behavior so most of the kids get along.

The preschool friend that is in her class is the only mom that I have talked with. We both volunteer in her class. She is real nice but the kids haven't done anything outside of school.

Because K goes to school at our church she knew most of the kids. Some of the others went to a different service or come from our pastors sons church across town that doesnt have a school.

She seems to have made some new friends including one girl she originally didnt like because she felt left out since the teacher spoke spanish to her and she didnt understand what the teacher was saying. She was mean about her at home for a few days but really seems to have befriended her since so Im glad.

i know and hang out with a few of the parents in her class.

Charlie knew a lot of kids already. Seven I think? from his daycare class and a few from his summer camp.

One of his very best friends at daycare sits next to him in class but I think they play with different kids at recess.

All the other kids are in different classes.

We almost sent Lucas to a different school because a lot of his friends that we've known since he was a baby were going there but it was 20 minutes one way from us. We decided to keep him in our neighborhood school that we love and it's ended up working out great.

Lucas is going to K the same place he went to Pre-K but most of his friends from Pre-K are at different schools (prek isn't required in GA so each Elm school has 20 spots per class. Anyone in the county is able to apply and they draw names to fill the pre-k slots.) He was heartbroken when he found out his "girlfriend" Tatem was at a different school this year.

Anyway, there are two kids from Lucas' prek class this year. It's funny. One of them he didn't like last year and said the kid was ALWAYS mean to him. This year that kid is his BFF. The other kid in his class came right at the end of Prek so I don't think he knew him very well.

A girl that gets on and off at Lucas' bus stop is also in his PreK class.

I've seen a handful of his old pre-k friends in other K classes. My friend's son (Lucas' friend) is in PreK at the school this year. I had jury duty last week and she was a total lifesaver and took Lucas to school for me. I've known her since her pre-k son was a week old.

I've also become friends with his K BFF's mom. We met each other last year on field trips and birthday parties and pre-k events. Then over the summer we became facebook friends. It's so nice to have someone to talk to about things going on in his class. She is also the PTA president for the school and is super down to earth. We haven't done anything outside of school together but I can see us hanging out.

Holly knew one kid, but then he transferred. They weren't really friends anyway.

She doesn't have friends in other classes that I know of; most of her pre-K people went to a different school (there are two within a mile or so of each other on the same road, darnit).

She has made some friends at school; she likes the kids she sits with at her table but her closest friends are one girl from there and one girl from across the room.

I haven't really befriended any of the other parents because Rob is the one who takes her to school and picks her up usually, so I've only done it a handful of times, and I've been hesitant to really reach out since we're moving anyway.

Ethan knew four kids in his class. Three boys from his pre-K/daycare, one little girl that lives upstairs from EJ.

He hangs out with the boys a lot and rides the bus with the little girl but he mostly talks to her sister, who is a year older.

He's made a bunch of new friends too, talks about what they do at recess, etc. It was one of the new boy's birthday about two weeks after school started and his mom sent an email to all of us saying she wanted to have a bday party but they had just moved to the area and didn't know anyone. We went and it was so fun to watch him with all the kids and I got to talk to a few of the moms then. He has another bday party this weekend but EJ is taking him.

Ethan has a class trip to the pumpkin patch in October and I am chaperoning so I should get to meet more kids then.

Oh and just today I was talking to his little girlfriend's mom. She lives in our complex and takes the bus with Ethan too so I introduced myself.

Gavin had a kid in his church class that is now in his K class. He was kind of friends with him before but never talked about him. We went to his birthday party right before school started and they had a blast. Gavin now rides the bus home with him and they have a great time. They are really good friends. If I wasn't working we could hang out (the mom and I and the boys) but obviously I am working. Oh! They also live about a block away from us but not on the same street. I have a feeling they will get to be really good friends.

There is also a girl from preschool who sits right next to him. There are 3 kids in his class from church but they are all girls and he doesn't know them but I know their parents. He doesn't talk about anybody but the other little boy. One of his other good friends from preschool is at the same school but a different class. Maybe next year they will be together.

Does your '05er have friends in his/her class that s/he knew before school started?

No... both preschools that she went to were not in our district. (Bad decision on my part, probably.) We ended up running into a kid from her pre-k class, who lives 5 houses or so down the alley, and has been their for years, and we never knew. He open enrolls into another district, though, so she went to school not knowing anyone.

Does s/he have friends in other classes at the same school?

She does now, from being in some girls club on the playground during recess, but she didn't go in knowing anyone in a different room (or at least, I don't think she did.)

Has s/he made some good friends at school already?

Yes, she talks about 2-3 of the same girls daily, but she plays with a pretty large group that changes all the time. Usually the same handful of girls play with each other within the group (if that makes sense) so I'm assuming those are her besties. It's interesting because she has a very Queen Bee attitude, but not at school.

Have YOU made friends with any of the other parents?

No... I haven't been to any pta meetings yet, so I'm hoping that helps. I'm volunteering for everything, and just have to kind of wait for it all to come together. At orientation a few of the parents knew each other, and it was very cliquey.

Does your '05er have friends in his/her class that s/he knew before school started? Yes, Mark's friend Corbin was in his preschool class last year.

Does s/he have friends in other classes at the same school? Yes, our across-the-street neighbor Benjamin is in another class, the one next door to Mark's. And a little boy named Aiden from preschool last year.

Has s/he made some good friends at school already? Oh, yes. Mark super-loves the little boy who sits next to him--Evan. I knew his mom from last year; she works in the cafeteria at the school. He also really likes to play with Kyle. Those two boys plus a little boy named Austin sit at his table in class.

Have YOU made friends with any of the other parents? Yep, I already knew some of them because their older kids are in 5th grade, and they've been in Henry's class. I just made a new friend at Mark's lunch yesterday because she was having lunch with her daughter. She's in charge of my class reading calendar.

Has s/he made some good friends at school already? He has mentioned a couple of kids. He's so easy going and friendly its not hard for him to make friends.

Have YOU made friends with any of the other parents? Hahahahaha.
