We have very dangerous water conditions right now because of how warm the water is. This is the same as the conditions when we got smashed by Juan a few years ago (warm water which intensified the storm as it hit Halifax).
I'm SO glad I don't own the house.
We're supposed to get hit on Friday night/Saturday (if it hits).

We were on hurricane warning since yesterday. Thank God it took a turn and we only have gust winds of 45 miles and a couple so inches of rain. i live in the west of the island so we had the least impact. There are towns in the north and east that were without powernduring the night.
Now is heading your way but we are watching Tropical Storm Fiona who should be here by tomorrow. We are not suppose to be hit by it but any changes can affect us.
We will probably get a bit of flash flooding, and my grandparents/mom/brother might get worse than that. But, as always, it depends; you know how things with hurricanes change rapidly!
I'm expecting wind and rain, maybe a knocked over trash can but that's about it, worst case, as long as it doesn't turn and head up the I-95 corridor.
IDT we should be affected where I live, but one never knows. Based on the maps, it is looking like it could hit the coastal areas around here on Friday, but isn't projected to come very far inland.
We could see flooding because of waters rising up the bay-that has happened in the past, and can do a surprising amount of damage in and around Annapolis and the other port cities. But that isn't a given either.
But right now, they aren't even calling for rain here! :)
Long Island is definitely on alert for Friday. The east end is most likely to be affected by the wind, but heavy rain is expected for all of the island. I am really hoping it stays further out to sea!
