hey girls.

i need to get to the store this week to buy some of the basics - pickles, low-carb dressings, etc.

does anyone have some dressings that qualify as your healthy fat serving that you like and can recommend?

i often use the salad spritzers when i'm dieting but i'm not sure if they qualify as a healthy fat.  i need to find out.

ty!

I have not read about dressing on medifast yet,but I just use red wine vinaigrette on my salads.

Do they say on the boards what you are suppose to use?

I love all of the newman's own light dressings.

MF recommends them and that's why I tried them in the first place.

I've always hated light dressings but these don't even taste light.

My favorite is light sun dried tomato.

I've only been able to find this one at whole foods.

I like the light italian but Rob thinks it's too lemony. I love all things lemon.

Here's the secret. Newman's made a special light italian blend for McDonalds that tastes way better. But you can only get it at McDonalds.

It's more peppery. They're the perfect serving size for a meal so when I go to McDonalds I say I want them for nugget dipping sauce and I tell them I want 3 or 4 packets.

They usually charge me like 50 cents a piece for the extra packets but it's worth it to me because I take them in my purse when I go out to eat at restaurants.

Is cold olive oil considered healthy on this diet? I know it is in general, but not sure to this diet specifically.

I always Make a simple olive oil / balsamic vin. dressing. I switch between the normal dark balsamic and raspberry balsamic.

Yes. It's considered a healthy fat so you can use 2 to 4 tbs (I think) depending on what kind of protein you've eaten that day.

olive oil would def work on this diet, but you have to be really careful with the vinegars. They tend to have a ton of sugar (which is why they taste so good) and will not work on this diet.

I know you said you weren't going on this diet muffy, I just wanted to make sure the girls who were going on it knew that about the vinegar.

Sugar is the biggest thing on this diet you have to watch. Sugar makes carbs higher quicker than anything.

more in next post about dressings I like

Sometimes I just use a half Tbls of regular ranch as my healthy fat. When you are buying dressings, you can get light versions to have a whole Tbls, but do not get fat free.

If you compare the ingredients on the back, there is something they do to fat free dressings that make the carbs go high.

Regardless of what I said on the fat free dressings above....

Walden Farms has a product line that is sugar free, fat free, carb free, calorie free, etc.

If you go to www.netrition.com (that's not a typo), you can see their whole line of stuff.

Now beware, some of their stuff tastes like it has no calories, etc. But some of it is fantastic.

They have a Chipotle Ranch dressing that is to die for! They also have individual packets of creamy bacon dressing that's great for taking to restaurants.

This website has $4.95 flat shipping for however much you buy and the shipping is quick, like 4 days or something.

The other things I like are the seafood sauce and the pancake syrup. If you are going to try any of the other stuff you might want to do a search on MF for Walden Farms or netrition.com to see what others have said on certain items. Like I think the marshmallow cream and some of the chocolate sauces were pretty dissappointing.

Even though there isn't any calories or anything in this stuff you still have to count them toward your 3 condiments per day, but then you still get to have your healthy fat.

Also, some of you may have Walden Farms products in your grocery store, which is great. We don't have anything like that here though, which is why I had to order on line.

I love using cream cheese as my healthy fat.  It's so yummy and I can spread it on so many of my foods.

I use the shakes and oatmeals to make muffin/cake type foods.

Chickie I don't know if you're still on it but if you are, you have to get the chocolate chip pancakes. Yummy!

I really like the taste of the choc chip pancakes, but, I have had a really hard time getting them to comeout as anything resembling a pancake or waffle. Im going to try making them as a muffin next.

I used wishbone spritzer, I think 8 sprays equals a condiment? But, I ran out and crazy enough have not been able to find more.

I still sometimes get confused by the condiment/fat counting. So, I try and keep my use of any way down. Like I said, my lean and green is usually a bag with protein and frozen vegetables, and then 2 tbs of dressing, or o&V. Then after I cook it, I drain out most of the juice, so I figure, Im under. Same for salads, I marinate the veggies or protein in a bit of dressing, then drain it out before topping my salad.

Erin my pancake came out absolutely perfect. I was shocked because I can rarely get normal pancakes to come out good.

I followed the instructions exactly.

I used cold water and shook it in the MF shaker only 5 times and didn't stir at all.

I sprayed the pan with a bunch of pam and when it bubbled I scooped it up on the spatula, sprayed more pam in the pan and flipped it.

I also cooked in on a very low heat.

The Litehouse Salsa ranch is super yummy!

I'm with Kristi on Newman's own. Delicious. I like the light balsamic and the lowfat sesame ginger. A brand called Ken's Steakhouse makes a lite caesar that I ran by nutrional support that is approved and so good!

that makes total sense.

it wasnt until KD clarified in the other thread that if was different from slimfast in that limited carbs and put you into ketosis that i further understood how it works.

in some aspects it is like when i do a 7-10 day water fast each year.

and i can see that those without self control could put  lot of weight back on when the diet stops - it is real important to watch what you eat after it ends (and be prepared to gain 5 pounds back quickly in any case).

quite interesting!
