Can someone help me turn my landscape photo into portrait size?

Apparently I am not good with resizing and cropping photos and it's driving me crazy. I am trying to frame DH's his photo with Christopher and I need to resize a landscape photo into portrait, I did some cropping to it but I still don't think it's a portrait size.  Can someone help?confuse
