So K likes to take her baths. Were working on her becoming more independant with washing off soap/shampoo.

Anyway Im trying to encourage her to take showers and she refuses. She doesnt want the water in her eyes.

Do your 5 year olds bathe, shower or both?

When she I really start pushing the shower aspect or does it not mattter since shes getting clean.

Koda now prefers showering and does most of it himself but asks for help and we make sure he is actually clean.  Our shower has a detachable head so he can rinse off like a hose.  When we were at the farm and they had a normal shower he screamed bloody murder so I am very sure if it was a typical shower we would be no where near ready.

He still does often bathe because he likes to pretend he is swimming :)

Mark likes to bathe and shower but he prefers to shower in his bathroom because the shower-hose comes down, and he can control where it sprays. He also likes to use the shower for a while with the plug in the drain, then play in the water/bath.

Henry just started showering when he was 9--in my bathroom. The showerhead is not detachable in there so it sprays over/onto his head.

Both of our showers are in bathtubs; we don't have shower stalls.

Henry complains so much about getting clean at all; I am just happy that he gets clean. Mark loves to get clean and be clean.

Holly has always taken baths, with the exceptions of when she climbs in with me every once in a great while (I tend to discourage this because Lance will want in too, etc., and the shower is my one sanctuary from all of them some days, lol!).

She has lately started asking about showering though, so if she likes it on her own (with some supervision), I may start letting her do that.

Hannah takes both... She likes baths, because if we're giving her the option to take a bath, it comes with the assumption that she has time to play. I usually push her to shower, because I like her being more independent, although I do not stay in the bathroom anymore when she's taking a bath. I stay in my room (which is super close) and she talks the entire time so I know she's okay, and then I just help her get the shampoo out (which is about impossible in the shower without pulling the showerhead down because of hair) ... When I'm at school, Joe gives her baths because she relaxes a bit more for him that way at the end of the night.

Anyways, either way, Hannah needs help rinsing her hair, but she's getting much better about trying to rinse it out first.

M2 showers and does most of it by himself. He just recently started this. He was the one who decided he wanted to shower instead of taking a bath. At first I would go in there and wash him up, then let him rinse off in the shower.

Now he pretty much does everything on his own. I go in to make sure he has all of the shampoo off his hair. He's been doing really good. (secretly I'm kind of glad because it gives me a few minutes to do something)

Ethan throws a fit no matter what because he knows that's the signal that it's close to bed time. He hates to shower, although I did recently force him to take one when we were on vacation--and it was with me, which was not ideal but it was the only way I could get him to do it.

He likes baths once he is in, brings in a bunch of toys, and cleans himself, including shampooing his hair. I help him rinse. and like Leah I don't stay in the room the whole time but I'm in and out and he talks non-stop. if he's silent for more than 2 seconds I'm back in to check.

Most of the time Raven takes a shower. When she wants to play she takes a bath. Will she take a shower with you? That was how Raven started.

Lucas still pretends to hate baths until he is actually in there and then he does it by himself. I go in and out and make sure he is clean (I can see the bathtub from my couch LOL)

He will not even consider showering he does not like the water to get on him that way. He hates sprinklers and rain too LOL

Owen does both.

Is it bad I prefer baths?! I would rather run a full tub then we just rotate all kiddos in and out..lol. Saves on water!

Bryce can wash himself, Owen does well but we usually still follow up and help.

Sara, we still do baths as well. They get in together and play. Anna washes herself, Kate rubs the washcloth around, lol, but we wash her. Anna helps with her hair too. Then we drain the tub, start the shower, rinse them (we have the detachable showerhead too-but they can't reach it once we put it back up), shut the curtain and let them pretend they are in whatever kind of water environment they want for the day-rainstorm, water park, etc. They don't mind getting water on their heads, obviously. That lasts about 3-5 minutes tops.

Bathtime takes a while, but we mostly supervise anymore, so we don't care. And since they both get cleaned at once, it works out well. Bill and I alternate who gives bath, but they prefer him because he lets them splash more.

ITA about water though-the shower alone would waste a ton more water in our house.

Aubrey and Austin both shower. Once they are clean, we'll fill up the tub and let them play if there is time. But for the most part, its shower and get out. LOL Aubrey helps with her hair and can wash her body by herself. Of course I always check to make sure she gets all the soap off.

Kids will play in the bath if I let them. I have little patience for it. lol. I make Kiera take a shower with me every now and then. Rhys always insists on joining. It is a tight fit in our shower stall lol. My mom and her grandma often shower/bathe them as an activity when they are over there. hehe. Between that and the pool/rinse off, we are good. ;)

Kiera could not stand water on her face till this summer when she finally got comfy in the pool.

Christopher prefers a bath because he can play that way. I rinse him after a bath and shampoo his hair (which he doesn't like), I don't trust him to get clean by himself just yet lol

Lucas hates showers because of the water in his eyes thing so we usually keep a pair of goggles in the bathroom for hair washing
