Morning!

Registration is today!

The kids are totally excited and nervous about finding out who their teachers will be.

School starts in 14 days and I have yet to find out who Colin's teacher is!

confuse

I guess we'll be either stopping by or calling to find out. I know a "Meet the Teacher" day is coming up. And the first week of school for Kindergartens is weird...One half the kids go one day. The other half go the next day.. And then they all go together after that...

I don't know.

I'm having palpitations thinking about him going to K!!! I don't think I'm ready.

Good morning!

Elizabeth is going back to preschool, so nothing will be too new, but unfortunately we will be out of town when they have the parent night and the open house for her to come in and look around.

gm girls!

i tried to register emily yesterday, but due to budget cuts, they don't have a registrar working until monday - which is also the first day of school. :( that means she probably won't be able to start until the 2nd or 3rd day. i'm going to do everything i can to get her in there asap. she needs routine and doesn't like feeling like she doesn't know what other kids know, so starting late will definitely be hard for her.

i also found a school for jake. it's new-ish (1.5 years) and they're not at capacity, so they have a lot of flexibility with hours, etc. he'll do preschool from 9-11:30 M-Th and then he'll do extended hours around that as needed. they give an option to pay weekly, so i'll do that since our hours will vary week to week. the facility is really nice and clean with a nice playground etc. and they only charge $18 per day for preschool. hopefully from october thru the end of the school year, jake will do just the preschool session most days and then come home and have lunch and nap at home.

if we ever have a home again. :/

Our school starts Monday, and we don't find out our teachers until registration (which is today). Actually I'm not sure if we even get to find out the Kindergarten teacher because we didn't have pre-registration for Kindergarten this year. We might have to wait for a sign posted on the door over the next couple days.

Uh oh

It's only been like 4 days everything will be fine. (((hugs))) Where are you staying now??

That's effing stupid about the registrar at least have one there the day before school starts.  What time will they get there Monday?? I would be there waiting for them to get there. Maybe they can push the paperwork through and let her start that day.

It's so weird how different things are done in different places.

Lucas was registered for K back in the early spring and will just get a letter from his teacher in a few weeks along with some other info for me. He will never have to be "registered" again unless I move to a different district/town. They just get moved on to the next grade or school.

I forgot to mention to Glen that I needed some paperwork to register Mark for school.

With Henry, we just need two proofs of residency--a utility bill and a mortgage statement.

For Mark, I need to take:

-birth certificate
-SS card
-two proofs of residency
-record of immunizations
-proof of recent physical

2 of those three items are locked in our firesafe. Glen has the only key . . . on his keychain.

So he's driving back home from work.

He had just gotten there (late) when I called to ask him where the stuff was because I needed it.

Hope he's not too annoyed.

We have two school systems--city schools and county schools. If you live inside the city of Memphis, you are NOT allowed to enroll in a county school, but MANY people try to sneak their kids into the county schools. Therefore everyone has to show 2 proofs of residency every year.

Henry is so antsy.

He wants Glen to get home asap.

Glen asked if we could just register this afternoon after he got home from work.

I think Henry's head might have exploded if I'd suggested it to him.

I'm also excited about finding out the kids' teachers.

Ahhhhh gotcha.  I just remembered that my mother had to a kind of registration for my sister.  They live in a very large town that is really more like a city and it is right next to New Haven. People from New Haven are always trying to sneak into that towns high school so just the high school has to do a reg. to show proof of residency.

I'm wicked tired today and I am stressed out about so many things.

My plan for this afternoon is to nap when I get home so I can get stuff done after but I have my couch and double stroller on freecycle and someone wants to look at the couch and pick up the stroller and I dont know what time they are coming yet.

I brought two big boxes home from work to clean out my closet with and that really needs to get done tonight.

I also have no idea at all what I am doing about a baby sitter for Lucas for the rest of the summer.

I cant have travis do it every day. My dad really can't/doesnt want too (Lucas is too much work for him I guess :eyeroll:) I can't afford to pay someone. Quint has a ton of vacation/personal days but he isnt gonna help.

*sigh*

The geek teacher in me loves all this back to school talk. lmao.gif I also love the smell of new pencils and crayons and find office supply stores fun.

April, I hope they get Em in quickly. I can totally understand having a child that does so much better with routine. I know that Elizabeth really needs that too.

Robin, I think it's great that you get so excited for your kids. You will have to let us know how registration goes.

Jennie, I think sending your child off to kindergarten is one of the hardest things to do. Is he excited about going?

I don't know what is available there, but when I was a single mom, the united way where I lived had a preschool/daycare that had a sliding scale fee.  It wasn't too bad.  Was it the very best there is to offer? No, but it wasn't a bad place for my ds to be either.  He really liked being there.  Check and see if maybe there is something like that there.  You may continue to need it after the baby comes.

One problem is I don't drive so where I can take him is very limited. I don't even know the going babysitter rate to see if one of Nikki's friends can help out.

And please don't talk about daycare and the baby. My kids have never gone to daycare and it is totally killing me that this baby is going to have to. I'm kind of hoping I can work out some kind of work at home part time thing or bringing the baby in with me for a little while.

I hope you find something that works out.

we pre-registered SG back in the spring as well, but she'll have to go registration day to see who her teacher is
