I went to some garage sales with my parents this morning.

I'm looking for a bookshelf for Henry's room.

No luck.

However, I did find a picture to put on my fireplace mantle.

For $5.

I think it looks really nice.

Goes well with the newly-yellow walls.

An outdoor picture of a little cabin with some flowering trees and plants with small buildings (maybe a church, maybe a cluster of houses--can't really tell) in the background.

It has lots of yellow in it.

I also got 2 books--"The Reader" and one called "Science in a Bag".

Yes, more science experiments.

Too bad Henry looked online and found out the first thing they cover in science is cells.

No fun experiments to go with that.

Boo.

I need to clean out all the closets.

Henry just informed me that he wants to swim today.

It's @100 degrees so who wouldn't want to swim today?

I'm thinking of going to the university where I got my Master's since I found my alumni card when I cleaned out my nightstand drawers.

They have a pool.

Just don't know the hours.

Or how family-friendly it is.

Hi Robin!

I need to do some major organizing when E goes back to school, but thinking about seems to go much further than ever actually doing it.

Where did you get your masters? I think you should check out the pool and your kids might get a kick out of swimming where you went to school.

I cleaned E's room this morning and forced her to help. Ugh! Well, I should say it's more or less clean because there is room for improvement.

Now it's down to the dungeon also known as the family room. Unfortunately that is the one thing on my list I have successfully avoided all week. It's D day here.

Christian Brothers University.

Henry did a really thorough cleaning of Mark's room yesterday to surprise me.

It looks great.

If only he would do his own room and/or clean out the closets.

good morning (afternoon east coast;)

i have a gajillion things to buy/get done today.

my usual party planning preparedness is non existent this year.

connor's party is tomorrow and i have zero done, minus goody bags.

atleast the house is clean and the yard is decent.

it is a camping theme. i made a list of food ideas during jamison's middle of the night feeding.biggrin

so far i am thinking-

hot dogs, trail mix, s'mores, bug juice, chips, popcorn, watermelon.

anything i am forgetting?

i only invited 6 kids (all relatives) this year since things have been pretty hectic this month;)

connor loves a pinata, but i detest the cost of buying/filling them.

especially b/c i won't buy the kiddie mix candy b/c we have a few younger kids and most of what is included is choking hazard central.

maybe i will just stuff some candy into balloons and then blow them up...hmmm...

connor's end of week vbs program was last night at 6:30.

i brought the kids to mcd's beforehand b/c i knew they wouldn't last through the 1 hour program hungry.

dh met us at the church.

when we got home at 8ish and he realized i had no intention of cooking a "real" dinner, he was pretty cranky and obnoxious.

sometimes i wish i didn't push myself to accomplish so much b/c it is like the more i do, the more he expects, kwim?

he was huffing and puffing as he made himself a pb&j. i told him there was chicken--just throw a piece on the grill (i was leaving to do a quick errand).

he was like "how do you expect me to cook my own dinner with three kids home?!"

yes dear, exactly, yet you expect me to do precisely that every day/all day.

grrr. men.

Glen took the kids to the mall for lunch.

I just finished a plate of leftover spaghetti. Yum.

I really should vacuum or something.

However, I finally started a book that I've been wanting to read so all I really want to do is . . . sit on my bed and read.

I've tried to start a thread about my kids' science experiments several times.

It's been so long since I've used photobucket that I can't remember how to get the pictures from there to here without a huge hassle.

Also I had a pretty long post going yesterday but then had to leave the computer before posting, and Glen exited out of MS.

And just now I tried to start one but the whole pb thing was giving me a headache so I gave up.

idt i have read anything since we all read eat, pray, love.

i am looking forward to the movie.

i am happy that julia roberts is playing elizabeth (atleast i think that is the writers name).

well i should go get my party errands done while baby's tummy is still full.

lets cross our fingers i don't get pulled over with my expired license en route.

especially since the police station is around the corner from i party.

It's called "Somebody Else's Kids" by Torey Hayden--I think that's the author's name; I don't have the book near me.

It's about a teacher and a group of her special-needs students.

I am a sucker for any book/movie/anything that has to do with special needs.

that sounds good, robin.

i just got back from a party run at walmart.

i still need to hit up the grocery store for the things i couldn't get there.

ie-meat/fresh produce. our walmart is pretty skeevy when it comes to those things.

now, i just need to figure out how to make fake flames to put in our fire pit.

i don't want an actual fire with little ones running around, so i figured i would attempt a pretend one since it is a camping theme.

i love having parties, but there is one thing i definitely don't love and i wonder if anyone else ever runs into this.

a couple of people on dh's side of the family tend to take quite a bit of the leftovers home without being offered.

the year of connor's 3rd birthday, one person who shall remain nameless, cleaned out the entire cooler of soda (ummm wtf?) and most of the cake and food.

i have no problem with someone saying "my boyfriend couldn't come so i'm going to grab him a slice of cake" or whatever, but filling a bag with sodas is not cool.

ever since that year, when i clean up i stow all the food in the basement fridge.

i am just waiting for this person to be ballsy enough to go down there to help her/him self.

grrr.

our husbands have more than fishing in common!!!

that irritates me so much - I get so tired of having to decide what we eat, shop for it, cook it, try to eat it, put up the leftovers, clean up after it rinse repeat every single meal.  seriously.

I'm a horrible horrible domestic engineer.

that is super rude.

I've never had that beyond can I take a piece of cake.  I've loaded up plates, dishes for both of my single, starving, barely scraping by brothers - but they didn't ask first, I just did it.

I'm curious if your person is older like grandma'ish.  I remember DH's grandma used to always want to take leftovers but I think it went along with her age and generation.

not older, younger, married, no children.

i think they think we are the slightly older therefore wealthy (ha! as if) couple and they are just starting out, thus somehow justify cleaning us out.
