M2 LOVES playing any and all sports. We told him he could choose 2 to play for the fall. He chose three. lol! I think 3 may be a little too much though. He wants to play, flag football, rookie league baseball(it's coach pitch, so it would be the first time without a tee) and soccer. He's supposed to be thinking about which 2 he wants the most.
The soccer league is 3-6 year olds. He has played in it since he was three, and in the spring he got bored with it. So, I'm thinking he should do football and baseball, but we shall see...
He's done swimming, usually in the winter months so indoor pool. (and he still can't really swim. we need to splurge on private lessons I think, maybe beginning of next summer)
Soccer a couple of times.
Tball this past spring.
Gymnastics this summer.
He's starting flag football in a couple of weeks. He's excited to tackle people. doesn't get that's not part of it. lol.
My girls will be doing dance. Rebecca 4 days a week, Crystal 2 days a week, and Brenna and Brittany 1 day a week. Kyle will do tae kwon do 2 days a week. I don't know yet whether Rebecca and Crystal will do jazz dance or just ballet yet. If they want to do jazz, it may add an extra day for Crystal. Rebecca's jazz class would be right before her ballet class so it's not extra running for me.
Marcos love swimming and since his brothers do it all year he is also swimming all the time. They are now teaching him backstroke and fly.
But he is a very competitive kid and loves sports. We try out baseball and he love it. He wants to do it again on January and we may try soccer. We do it because we gave the older kids opportunities in other sports until they decided to go to the water. In our case it will be easier for us that Marcos pick swimming and i will have them all together, but i don't want to cross out his opportunities.
R is tired of yoga and gymnastics (she did those for like a year) and i have her in a summer ballet camp right now - she loves it and wants to continue - they have a ballet/tap combo class so she's going to do that one afternoon a week. that'll probably be it though, just to not overwhelm her at the start of school.
C is going to take ballet once a week, and maybe a little art class or something.
i think i'm going to start R on piano in january too.
Owen did tball over the summer. He could play soccer this fall but he says as of now he does not want to. He is not going to be my sports aholic like Bryce.
I usually allow one sport per season, anything more than that is too much. Bryce just finished up baseball and had been playing since Spring. From Spring ball to the All Star team he made which just finished its last tournament on Sunday.
I could not imagine trying to do more than one during the baseball craziness we had going on this summer.
Soccer for sure. She loves it. Thinking about doing dance also. I think that would be easier to included with soccer. T-ball and soccer, practice and play at the same time so she can't do both unless we do 2 different leagues. She also wants to play football but I haven't checked in to what is offered here. I would like to find some sort of theater/music/dance combo because she loves to perform.
If K does anything It will just be her back in dance.
She is not good for contact sports. The other day she starting crying because she hurt her foot. Dh asked her what happened and then she fainted. She faints waaaay to easy for a contact sport. I dont get it.
We never did sports b/c he has never shown an interest.
He does have an interest in hockey. And lucky us there is a roller league. And DH played as well so he has the perfect player to beat on..
Right now, he's in a 2 week trial of Tae Kwan Do. He was jazzed afterwards and kept asking when he could go back. I don't know if its becaue his older sister takes it and that's why he liked it or if it was the games afterwards that they played. The place we are looking at has a program called Little Dragons for 4-5 year olds to get them socialized and learn basic martial arts skills. But at $99/mo for it I don't know if we can swing it right now.
Otherwise, we'll see where his fancy lies. This is the kid who wants to be a crab fisherman AND an exterminator (a la Billy the Exterminator) when he grows up so who knows!
