my mudroom transformed :)

so back in the spring we had someone come in and replace the windows and doors in the mudroom, then we took out these huge radiators that were not needed, and i spent like WEEKS painting all that wood - then agonized for months over how to furnish - ANYWAY this is how it's looking!
it's a really functional room now. i have my little desk (which i'm going to sand down and paint once this weather is a little cooler) - i have coat hooks and a basket for the kids' shoes under my old piano bench, whcih will hold scarves and mittens - then i have that dresser in the back left which has ALL our house paperwork, mail, arts and crafts supplies, school papers, etc - i now have a little organization system for my own work, etc. it's SO nice to have a spot for all of this stuff.
i want to sand down that back dresser and repaint, but again, not till fall - and i'm still tweaking wall hangings - and i need some blinds or something bc it's like a greenhouse in there.
the chairs have white slipcovers as well, so i can change it up.

the pic in the dark is how it looks right now - the sunny pic is maybe a week ago - wanted to show how bright it is. the front wall is identical to the back.
anyway thanks for letting me share! i've been working my butt off in there!!

thank you guys. this room had been an extension of the garage for my whole life - it's SO nice to have it part of the house now. i'm totally spending a ton of time in there now, and it's 100% the entrance of the house now.
liz has been holding my hand through this whole thing - lmao!

That's gorgeous!!! You did a great job!!! I love seeing pictures of your renovations, because it seems like your house has a lot of charm, and infused with your style, it's really come a long way!

thanks! this house is a tough nut for me. its been the same way my whole life - changing it is super fun but also hard to wrap my head around. defining my own style is really hard to do in these same walls kwim? but i think it's coming.

kitchen/hall floor is next, then my bedroom. exciting.

thanks! that wood paneling was also in my TV room and we painted that last year (or year before?) - and the same stuff is around my fireplace in the LR - it's good paneling (ie, real), but DARK. i actually sort of like it in the LR since it's JUST on a short wall, but part of me is itching to change that too.  maybe in time.

wish we could have done something more interesting, but that ceiling is LOW (ie, mike can stand with his palm flat on the ceiling).

thank you! i feel like i had one of those dreams - i dont know if everyone has these dreams or just people who are obsessed with houses like me (lol) where you are walking around your house and you find a new door with a huge unused space inside? (yeah i'm nuts maybe, now that i see it written out!) - i feel like that's what happened here -
for the cost of 4 windows and two doors, we were able to have a WHOLE new room - this room was literally completely unused - we're talking like mike's drill was plugged in and laying on the floor for like 2 yrs - i mean REALLY unused.

it's like having an extension. (too bad there's not a bathroom in there - that would be a TRUE dream - but i'm good with this!) - i just love love love having space to organize household stuff. we dont have an office in the house so this is really nice :)
