anyone done/doing this?

i'm thinking about trying it this summer.

several coworkings at school are doing it before work at the gym at school and really like it.  i think one of them can burn me the dvds so i can do it at home.

i would need to buy dumbbells (probably 3 sets), a yoga mat and a pull-up bar (we have a high ceiling in the basement, so matt said we could hang one down there).

just wondering if it's worth the investment?

tia!  :)

I have a friend who has done it and said it was great! Her hubby does it also. She said it was hard, but definitely gives results.

I have the P90, which is like the beginner version, and I really like it. I haven't done it in a long time, lol, but when I was doing it, I was really happy with it, and I definitely got results from it. The P90 series is designed for all fitness levels, whereas the P90X is designed for people who are already fit but want to take their fitness goals to the next level. So you should be good!

I wouldn't hesitate-from what I have seen in the P90, and what I have heard from people who have used the P90X, it is worth it!

Let me know if you are going to start. I keep wavering about doing it. I wanted to be in a good groove of regular exercise before doing it though so I don't know. I need to get back to exercising though.

Did you see my facebook status the other day?! LOL

John has been doing P90x. But really he does kind of a mixture of just regular working out, running and then some nights doing P90x.

He has lost 25 lbs with working out and eating better.

Apies - do you want to be workout buddies? Long distance, obviously, LOL. IMO if you aren't in a good exercise routine then p90x is probably not the way to go. That's how I feel about it for me personally anyway. I like Sara's input about mixing it in.

I am starting fresh for like the billionth time tomorrow. I have to do it. We have a mini family reunion 4th of July weekend with a pool party and I have got to look good in a bathing suit!

So, anyway, I think I am going to do JM's Burn Fat Boost Metabolism mixed in with some 30 day shred and walking the dog at nights. :)

juni, that would be awesome.

i'm sort of going back and forth on p90 v p90x - i'm going to talk to my friends at school tomorrow and see what they'd recommend.

i mean, i have an athletic background. and even if i haven't been to the gym in a few months, i can do 30-45 minutes on the treadmill at 4mph and 15% incline.

i just don't want to underestimate if i have the background and base to start from, kwim?

i just have to get into something soon or it's going to get bad over here.

Rich has been doing it now for 30 days and has lost 16 lbs and is looking toned. I started and cannot do even a quarter of it, but I am not fit to say the least. I have been doing yoga and other cardio videos.

Are the people at work doing it women? It is intense and hard. It gives Rich a run for his money and he is pretty fit. I think you can work up to it, but will take time to get through 60 min session.

Ok, I think I am going to try p90x for a week and if it's something I think I can keep up with I will try to do it for the full 90 days. Otherwise I will switch to my girl JM.

We have it and it is tough! It's a mix of strength, agility, and cardio so if you have no prior training it will be very hard, but probably not impossible. You can buy bands to use in place of hand weights, which may give you more resistance levels in the long run. DH uses adjustable dumbbells, but those were $$$. My brother did the whole 90 days and I could really tell a difference.

STFU!!!  I bet you could do it. (of course, I haven't done any of them, so I really don't know how tough they are, as compared to the P90)  Even if you have been out of the exercise thing for a while, you are definitely in good shape-you could pick it up in no time.

I have all of the P90 ones though, and if you want to try them, I can copy them for you (as long as they copy-which I bet they would.  But my parents have tried copying some of the Disney movies and they won't! Dayum Disney...but I digress)

Anyway, lmk if you want to try the P90.  I was thinking I should break it out again for myself.

Ok, I know you're sick so you're probably not even thinking about this now but I totally think you should go for it.

I just finished day 3 and it was by far the hardest but an hour of arms and shoulders is not my strong suit! Plus I had already done 15 minutes of abs.

I think you can totally do this. You can modify in many ways, take breaks, use whatever size weights work for you and build up to what you can do. I'm loving it so far. I've been stuck weight wise and eating habits wise and putting the effort into this makes me stick with eating better and because it is a 90 day program I feel more obligated to stick to with it for 6 days of the week.

Since I started this and eating better I have lost 1.4 pounds this week.

i'm really interested in trying it too!! I didn't want to spend the money on it since I'm already paying for my gym memebership and have other ways of working out, but you girls are making me curious!!

I have heard good things about it, but I haven't known anyone personally that has done it.
