I am not always good at remembering everything, so thought I would put this in here for you since I know you will be going through this soon too. I thought I would let you know how this first day went for us in case it helps you prepare better. Let me know if you want me to add on about the night and next day or two.
First, the worst.
The hardest part is when she came out of recovery. It made me feel terrible. She did cry and hurt. I rocked her and sang to her in the recovery area while dh feed her ice chips. We were not there long though and even though it was hard to see her so upset, know that it really is a very small part of the day.
The not so bad and better.
We were in and out for the entire thing in less than 3 hours.
As the day has progressed, she has become noticably better and better. Granted she complains about pain periodically but nothing like this morning.
I can tell all ready that she can breathe better.
Helps and observations
Elizabeth was allowed to bring her blankie in with her, and that was helpful.
She is not any too happy about the tylenol with codine flavor. I have to do some coaxing to get her to take it. I may be going back and seeing if they can add flavoring or something to it.
She has eaten a ton of popsciles. She also is drinking mostly water but has taken a couple sips of sprite. Other things she has like are whipped yogurt, jello, ice cream, pudding and gum. She tried eating a fruit snack they gave her but it is a little too hard for her to swallow yet.
She is playing so it is helpful to have some non active toys. Because we are indulgent parents we bought her a couple of new things. She is really liking the tinker toys.
She has napped a little.
We have also spent a lot of time watching dvds. I wish I would have gone to the library to check some out because I have a feeling I am going to be tired of watching some of these.
