Today I brought out his little potty and put him in big boy pants. I gave him a bit to drink and about 30 minutes later put him on the potty to sit. I had the potty in front of the tv so that he could still watch tv. He wanted to get up every few minutes but I would put him right back on as I could definitely notice him fidgeting from needting to go.
I saw a drip in his underwear and put him back on the potty. Mabye there were 2-3 drops 5 minutes later. BUt when he got up again he was screaming about getting back on but I knew he really had to go so I put on a diaper. Withing 15 seconds of that he went.
I dont know what to do about the fear of going on the potty. I dont want him holding it so long that hes leaking and can cause him issues later. Did anyone else deal with this or have any advice.
Mason never actually went on the little potty. He started potty training by peeing standing up, and that wasn't until he was 3.5. I've heard sooo many times that it's much harder to potty train a boy than a girl.
ita with abh with the standing up. i let mason run around naked out in the yard for a while so he could see the pee coming out. maying you could try that first? just letting him pee outside? and then once he understands mabye you can have him try peeing on the potty (or maybe standing up if that works better).
We plan on trying the Kristi method with Tristen who is (I think) finally getting ready. A weekend of naked, followed by a rental of a steam cleaner. Just waiting for the students to leave.
Koda showed signs but wasn't really ready until nearly 3.5. Tristen is showing some signs of ready, though emotionally I'm not sure he is there yet, and he is almost 3.
Koda's preK stopped requiring potty training as a requirement because so many 2.5-3 year olds just weren't ready and they felt it was not helpful to force the issue. We were worried about Tristen going to May term, but they said a lot of the boys don't turn the PT corner until after 3.
