I don't really know what to expect. I am having no pain in the tooth at all right now. at my check up 6 months ago my dentist noted on my chart to watch the tooth for discoloration. At my check up this time I mentioned a little swelling in my gum area occasionally and it just happened to be above the tooth they marked to watch so they did a bunch of x-rays and found an issue with the root.
anybody have any root canal experience? Is it just like a filling and I will be back to normal once the numbness wears off? I think removing a root is a bit more invasive than filling a cavity
I've had one Kris. It's not terrible, its not fun of course but you know what I mean. I think I was sore for a couple days afterwards but it really felt much better then it had before, mine actually hurt though that's when they realized I needed one. I hope it goes nice and easy for you.
It's really not that bad. I've had many. The uncomfortable part is having to keep your mouth open for such a long time but you can request this plastic thing that they can put between your teeth on the other side that you can sort of rest your teeth on so your jaw won't get sore.
The other thing they do is put this stretchy damn in your mouth and cut a hole in it for your tooth to come through, they attach it to other teeth to hold it in place. It's kind of weird but you get used to it right away.

This is exactly what they did. The teeth rest on the opposite side, the stretchy thing. It was really hard to swallow and I salivate alot :bag:
Overall it wasn't that bad. But I thought that it would all be done today. I didn't realize I now have to go back to my regular dentist for a post and another appt for the crown! And I have to go back to the dr from today for follow up x-rays to make sure the bone is growing back.

why can't I remember the stretchy thing? It was only 4 years ago for heaven's sake!

I'm glad you did good!
I'm surprised you don't remember it. It was like a rubber glove covering my mouth with a hole in it for the tooth that was getting worked on.
