Foster Parenting and Adoption

DH and I have been talking about being Foster Parents and/or adopting. I want to start doing some research now. Does anyone know of any good books to read or other recommendations of how to learn more about the process?

I don't know if you remember or not, but we went through the entire process and were approved.  We had an adoption fall through also.  It's a long story but for the moment we have decided to put it on hold.

Every agency is different, but if you have questions about the process or anything else feel free to ask.  I wish I could recommend a book, but I honestly can't remember one right now.  We also had to hold a foster parent license so we went through that process too.

Glad you posted this, I was thinking about making a similiar post too.  I really want another kid but I think we are done biologically at least I know James is.  He prefers to adopt or foster.  The only concern I have with fostering is I will get too attached to the kid and when they have to go I will just be a mess =(  I dunno... it's a tough decision.  We would love to adopt a deaf child not because we WANT a deaf child but it is a good thing for them to be exposed to the deaf world as it's their first language anyhow.  Many times parents give deaf children up because they are "worthless" (in other countries) along with other disabled children.  I need to start looking into adoption processes and how it works too.

I'm considering this too, not right now, but in a few years.

Regarding the part in red:  Tiffany, I fully 100% believe that this is the EXACT reason you should foster.  These kids NEED people who care about them, and if this is your concern, I think you'd be perfect for the job!
