DC hotel recommendations please

Hubby and son #2 are going to DC in June and I'm looking for a place for them to stay that's reasonably close to the mall.

I'm looking at a hotel map but don't even know where to begin so I thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions.

You would think I have would have suggestions, but since we live here, IHNI, lol. We never stay anywhere!!

You know who you should ask? Irina-she stays in DC a lot and I am sure she would know where to stay!!!

I'll ask around though-Bill works just outside the city, so surely someone has a suggestion!

i dont know how they stack up pricewise, and i havent stayed at any inD.C (I have in Chicago, Denver, San Diego) but I love the Kimpton hotels. They are funky and cool. They offer a hosted wine reception in the eve, are pet friendly, and will give you a fish to keep during your stay if you want. lol. The Hotel Monaco looks to be the closest to the Mall.

I'll look into monaco erin.

As far as pet friendly hotels go, I try to stay miles away from those, not a plus. LOL.
