Need ideas for company picnic
Permalink

We have a company picnic every summer for my firm where employees and families are invited.  The ages of the kids coming range from newborn to teenagers.

What we have done in the past is a bounce house, corn toss, one of those carnival type attractions where you shoot basketballs into the goals, a ring toss with glass bottles.

A couple of years ago we also organized various sporting events like wiffle ball, volleyball, tug of war.

Can you guys think of anything you would enjoy or have enjoyed doing at a company picnic?  We need to add some new stuff this year!!

ETA:  we also do a bake off where people bring homemade (like really homemade) baked goods and then we have judges pick winners.

What about (either instead of or in addition) to the bounce house one of those inflatable obstacle courses. Where you run through, climb over, slide down, that type of thing. It's fun because smaller kids can do it but the teenagers can still do it too. I dunno. I think you already have some great ideas.

Are you trying to get more people to come or just trying to make it more fun in general?

The 3 legged race or a sack race are always fun.

Egg on the spoon races are fun for the little kids.

You could also do a freeze dance for the little ones.

caricature artists are always a huge hit when we do little on campus festivals.  I second the inflatable obstacle course, great for all ages.  Cotton candy and ice cone machines rent very cheaply.  You could get favorite picnic songs from co-workers and create a picnic CD for all the families.  Tricycle races for the teens/adults are always funny to watch.  You could throw in a fundraiser for a good cause if a higher-up doesn't mind getting pied (ie, whip creamed) or dunked in a booth.  A little kiddie pool with rubber duckies makes an easy carnival game.

I went to a fun company picnic last Fall that had 2 horses for horseback riding.

My kids were both too scared to ride on them but the other kids had fun, and so did the adults who went on rides.
