yet again - musty smell out of laundry
Permalink

i'm an idiot and started a load of laundry last night and then forgot to switch it to the dryer.

it smells so bad, as soon as i walked into the laundry room this afternoon, i could smell the stink. blech.  so so disgusting.

i need to remember what you guys have remembered in the past about getting the smell out.  i want to say that someone recommended a mixture that included borax but i don't have that.  i'd rather not have to make a trip to the store.

anyone have some guidance?

tia!

I find that if I just re-wash on hot that works. Using a cup of white vinegar works too.

Um, I do that way too often than I care to admit. But, I agree with Stacey - a re-wash typically helps just fine. I have also heard the vinegar trick though too!

If that doesn't work, use a tablespoon of liquid dishwashing soap and rewash. It's what you use to get smells out of cloth diapers. Works perfectly if your towels get smelly or you leave a load in the washer.

And if none of that works, we use this when our front loader starts to make our clothes stink.

It works great.

You only use a teaspoon per wash so it lasts forever.
