Hardwood floor question
Permalink

Our older dog ripped up the carpet in Dominic's room awhile back and we saw that it had hardwood floor under it so I decided yesterday to remove all the carpet from his room and it is such nice hardwood floor! I am shocked! I can't believe under our crappy carpet it is this nice floor. I think our whole house is like that but it is too much work to remove all of it right now so I just did his room. Anyway, what can I do do make it shine? Is there wax or something? I used the orange glo and it worked pretty good but I would like to make it look a little better. Any tips? Thanks!

If you want it super shiney, you should sand it down and polyurethane it.  If that is too much work, you should try oil for wood.  I use Pledge oil and it is pretty good.  If the wood is not coated with something, which it sounds like it is not if it isn't really shiny, then it will need lots of oil to keep it looking good.  I put it on mine every 2 weeks (but you don't really HAVE to).  Takes a long time so hopefully his room isn't too big.  I do it on my hands and knees with a paper towel and rub the oil in.  I have done it with a mop, but it ends up looking splotchy and I don't like it.  You could try mopping it on first and see how it looks.
