Just curious. We might (most likely) will be stopping in the Atlanta area before going to Florida during spring break. Wanted to pick someone's brains about the Atlana metro and suburb area.
I (obviously) don't live in Georgia but have spent a lot of time in Atlanta for work, in the Northwest suburbs. 285/75 area.
What are you looking for?
We are trying to be open to different areas to look at houses. I am trying to find a place that has more of an art field for dh. I have read that Decatur in Dekalb county seems to focus on the arts. I have seen some nich houses in Ellenwood, Lithonia, and Stone Mountain as well. But as always with good house prices there seems to be some other major issue. I also saw some decent homes in the south of Atlanta around College Point and Fairburn ( I think this is the name) Do you know anything about any of these areas?

joyce, kari lives in savannah.
i went to emory, which is in the decatur section of atlanta. the homes in decatur are VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY expensive. like, ridiculous. i can also tell you that commuting in atlanta is RIDICULOUS. so if you're thinking about commuting from outside of atlanta and heading into decatur, be prepared to drive in LOTS of traffic.
i used to sit in 1+ hour of traffic ALL the time - even at 11pm or 6am or 12 noon or whatever. the only place i've been that has worse traffic is cali.

She is not kidding! Spaghetti Junction comes to mind!
However, I Atlanta despite its many traffic dysfunctions. And though there were many a calls from DH when he was on his way home from Georgia service calls to say, "Stuck in ATL. Be home soon....." I love going down there b/c there is SO much to do. There is the aquarium (which I am desperate to get DH to let us go to). We're only 3 hours from ATL and when I lived in Murphy, we used to go quite frequently. Both my sisters attend the ATL campus of SCAD. And DH has a good friend who lives in ATL as well.
