April there is a soap and lotion I get for Anna at CVS called Vanicream. You have to go to the pharmacy for it. It doesn't require an rx but they keep it behind the counter. It is simply amazing. Anna's skin has never looked this good and its winter!
i am currently suffering from pregnancy related prurigo, and my dermatologist told me that humans should not always wash their body with soap... only the "smelly places" - armpits, genitals and bottom, and feet. why not try not soaping him up all over and see if it helps?
(bertrand has general winter dry skin, and he has been doing those limited soaping for 2 weeks and his dry patches on his trunk are much better.)
also, the dermo said absolutely NOT to use liquid soap - to only use a white bar thats non-fragrant. we use dove unscented bars here. liquid soaps leave a film that actually dries out the skin further.
also, i use eucerin cream on the dry spots after a shower.
We are the dry skin people at this house (except dh). Muffy had great advice. We use Dove and they even make a sensitive skin bar. If you can stand it, putting a little mineral or unscented baby oil in the tub helps alot, but it does leave it greasy. Sometimes I put the unscented baby oil gel on Elizabeth and then put on the tight fitting pajamas.
