I can only imagine how trapped you must feel! Yikes! Is it just straight fluffy snow? Or is there ice too? It was super hard when we had the ice packed up on top of the snow b/c we were truly trapped up here on the hill and couldn't get down. Since we're a private road we don't get plowed! I can only imagine.
We had horrible winds last night. We lost power yesterday afternoon for two hours and again last night for 3. It was so cold in the house. Molly jumped up in the bed and snuggled us. Thank goodness she's a big fluffly dog b/c I needed that! We lost a few shingles off the roof it looks like but we won't know until we get up on the roof just how much damage we took. We had gusts of 60mph. Luckily our fence stayed! DH has already been out today. He said there are downed trees everywhere. Its a mess out there. He and Colin went out for a bit. Had to make a Target run for some stuff b/c my preferred mom is coming out since my surgery is tomorrow.

I hurt so bad. I wish it was gall bladder surgery but alas its just my wisdom teeth. Stupid pain meds won't touch the pain. They just make me goofy as crap and then really freaking sleepy!

Hope you get out.

Get out and about! Maybe it's even worth putting on the snowpants to just get out of the house!

I appreciate our snowplow drivers so much more when I see how long it takes other parts of the country to get back to normal.

I'm around and also totally stir crazy. We are outside right now-dealing w snowsuits was worth getting outside for awhile. Atleast its sunny and warm. I mostly hate what a mess the house gets in the winter-its so nice in the summer when they don't touch any of their toys!

we get our new washer and dryer today.

they told us it would deliver around 11 am in the store.

last night my automated call said between 1:15 and 3:15, how convenient right during nap.

so i just laid keegan down a bit early so he can hopefully get some what of a decent nap in since you never know when they will actually show. of course today he fell asleep on the way home from his 18 month check probably because he has slept like crap the last two nights. so hopefully he will go down.

April, I completely feel you. Thankfully (I guess), the fact that I am so wiped out from this flare makes it easier for me to stay home. If i were fully healthy, I would be going insane right now. The girls are handling it well, I think. Anna wants to get out, but Kate doesn't. I am too weak to take them out by myself, and we have barely seen Bill (he is working in the basement, which means it is also off limits to us), so they have been inside with me. Bill said he would take them out this afternoon, so at least they will get out of the house.

Sara, yipee for a new washer and dryer!!!! I am so jealous. Mine are so old!!! That will be nice.

I'm here, but I don't have much exciting to say.

It's snowy here. The roads suck. We haven't been out of the neighborhood yet.  I think that is about the extent, lol.

Oh-I did find this interesting though-my dad goes to light therapy for his psoriasis.  He went Tuesday, but forgot his clothes for it (he has long underwear that my mom cut holes into so that the places where he has the psoriasis badly-like his knees and elbows-are exposed).  The tech said it would probably be ok, so he went ahead and did it.  It is like a vertical tanning bed, but MUCH more intense.  Anyway, he is up to the max time, which is 5 minutes, so ALL of his skin, some of which had never been exposed, was on Tuesday.  My mom said he is completely burnt.  Like, had a fever and everything from it and is MISERABLE.  Yikes.

But how odd to have a sunburn in the middle of two back to back blizzards, huh?

Anna almost got her entire bean jar emptied today. She has been warned before that when it is rest time, she can play with what is in her room, but she is not allowed to come down here and get more things. She did it the other day and got in trouble. That time, I heard her (I was in the basement, as I was today) and hauled up there after her-she tried to get back to her room, but I was too quick, lol. Well, she did it again today. I immediately told her that she had to take 2 beans out of her jar for it, and if she did it again, that would be three strikes and she would have to empty her entire jar. It is almost full, so that was a blow.

Needless to say, she was in tears. But she knows it is against the rules, and Lord knows she has enough in there to play with!!!

i'm going to have to start something like that.

i am just yelling wayyyy too much for the same stuff all the time here.

do they get a reward for a full jar?

what are you using for a jar - that is, how big of a jar?

ITTTTTA-I thought that was kind of an a-hole remark of him to make. I can NOT wait until next week's episode!!!  I wonder if the other 3 think, "Gee, I wonder if *I* would have been given a rose had this not happened?"  Kwim?

OMG-it has been a livesaver here.  I also have a small jar, so I will take a bean away from myself if I yell at them. (raising my voice doesn't necessarily count. But the yelling was getting out of control and stressing me out as much as them-I just hated myself everytime I yelled)  They feel like I am accountable as well.  Bill has a jar too, but he doesn't earn much because he is never here, lol.  But they like that we are all in it together.

They have small canning jars.  One has a gold ring and one has a white ring but the inner tops are removed.  I am not even sure how small they are, but small.  Like 2-2.5" high?  We use pinto beans because they are bigger.  But you could use anything-small tupperware container, baby food container, etc.  It should be small, IMO.  As they get older, I figure they will be able to work longer at this, so we can move on, but for now, they need to see that they are making progress.

Yes, they can cash in a full jar for a reward when it gets full.  We have had to have a number of discussions about it NOT being a competition-that we are all working on filling our jars and we will all get a reward for doing so, because Anna's jar is filling faster (shocking, I know) and she was rubbing that in.  Anyway, right now, what Anna wants is for Bill to take her to the B&O Railroad museum, just the two of them, once she fills her jar.  That may change, but I think it would be nice.  But anything could work-whatever motivates your kids.  A friend of mine said her older daughter cashed hers in for a trip to BAB.

I still get frustrated with them and still want to yell sometimes, but now they have the control.  They really want to fill these jars, so I tell them they have a choice-keep doing what they are and lose a bean (or more, depending),or start making better choices.  Most of the time it works, but sometimes not and they have to lose beans.  Plus when I catch them doing things right, it makes them feel good-so they are both working on that.  Anna harder than Kate, but Kate is getting there.  I know this system won't work for everyone, but it really has been great for us.
