Amigurumi!!! Kelly and Chele
Permalink

This is mainly for Chele and Kelly since Kelly doesn't have FB and I wanted to share the pictures with her.. Didn't know where to put it so Chit Chat seemed like a great place!!
BUT! If there are any crocheters here that want the pattern lemme know and I can PM it!! Overall the cupcakes take about 2 hours from start to finish. Less without any interruptions period. The coffee cup about the same amount of time.
I discovered that the Yarn Buddies yarn @ Michael's (end aisle cap in the yarn section) makes good amis) but the kind of rough yarn (NOT Red Heart) makes good amis too. The soft acrylics (this Caron Simply Soft type yarns) are hideous to use b/c they keep pulling apart on me and all you hear are a bunch of F-bombs and such being muttered softly under my breath and the chain smoking then commences between rounds so!!!
For those that have never done amis- Super fun to do. Super easy when you get the hang of it. You are also super hard pressed to find 6MM-9MM safety eyes ANYWHERE in a rural area. I hunted Michael's, AC Moore's, and Hancock's as well as Wal-Mart just in case. Nada. The closest I came are 12MM animal eyes that I found at AC Moore.
For someone who has never crocheted- I don't recommend not starting out learning amis b/c holy cow! Its intense when you first start out. Its done in very tight, tight stitches b/c of the stuffing.
These were done using an F hook. :) I have no idea the height. I think mine are slightly taller b/c I chose not to use an acrylic yarn. I can't stand an acrylic yarn for the amis.
(I resized the images so they wouldn't be so huge and my camera sucks)

(this set was for a little girl in church)

those came out GREAT! congratulations - you totally mastered this!
i'm planning on making some more dolls soon- i am a little swamped with work right now with the new semester starting, and some overly ambitious goals for my other job - but i think in a few weeks i'll be getting back.
these cupcakes are adorable! she's going to love it!
