this is a debate about whether women have "ever had it so good" - covers how we measure "having it good," career/motherhood/inequality of household duties even when job responsibilities are the same, etc.
very interesting.

I think that I am very lucky compared with past generations of women in terms of having a husband that helps out with a big chunk of child care.

I for sure have been really lucky in terms of having a spouse that does a ton of child care. He isn't really my ideal husband in terms of what I'd like, want personally. Isn't talkitive, romantic, intuitive... But he is a GREAT Father. He gives prolly more than half the baths when he is home at bath time. He usually is the one who gets up with Andrew in the mornings on his days off. Usually is like 99% of the time... He works parent days at Andrews' school. We used to switch, but with my "morning" sickness, he usually works 2-3 days, and I work 1-2 days. He goes to the parent meetings. He took ASL classes when Andrew was younger, even though he, at the time, thought it was a big waste of time and money. He has since changed his mind and loved to brag about how many signs Andrew knew. He goes to Dr appts when he can.

I also think his level of...participation... in child rearing is especially great considering his age. He's almost 45. It seems to me, that the younger the men are, the more they help out with the kids and house.
