Ouch! Fillings Q!

I had 3 more fillings done yesterday for a total of 6 down, 6 to go.
And it freaking hurts. Its not supposed to hurt, right?
Its only the filling on the back molar- like the very last molar before the wisdom tooth on the upper left and only when I chew on food so I have to be pretty damn anal when I eat or just go liquid for a bit. But it hurt so bad last night after I mis-bit a wheat thin that I had to take a Lortab from last week's extraction. Think pacing the house crying your eyes out kind of pain. So much fun.
disbelief

I cringe to think I have to do this two more times. But then I think 2 more times and I'm done. Plus I get the remainder of my wisdom teeth pulled on Feb. 12.

No more.
No more.
No more.

But fillings aren't supposed to hurt, right?

I love my dentist but I don't want to go back in- seriously. I don't think I could sit in a chair for another two hours and look up at his face. I just don't think my patience could survive that..let alone my already sky high BP. Did I mention we go to the same church? (Didn't know that until recently b/c we go to different services)...

Funny story- I had to have one of my wisdom teeth extracted last week. It had a bad, bad cavity that was causing some not so fun times when I ate and drank. So, he said it could be extracted. Numbed me up and had the other dentist come in to pull it. He reaches in with his pliers(or that's what they look like to me) and goes to pull and I screamed. Oops. Looks like someone wasn't numbed. So he numbed me again, gave it a few minutes, and came back to pull. He goes to pull and I screamed. Oops. So he injects some awful, awful, awful stuff into my face which made it burn like crazy. He goes to pull it out and the crown pops off leaving the roots behind. He cuts the roots in half and gets one out easily and has to pry and wiggle the other out.
I was in that chair for over 5 hours.
Oh my aching backside.
I also discovered that the face can be stretched and contorted into a myriad of odd positions and never once break.
I needed the Lortab for Monday only. Tuesday I was sore. Wednesday I was swollen.
Friday I realized I swallowed my stitches when I reached over with my tongue and felt nothing.
biggrin

And still I go back. LOL
I have some anger though. I think during all of this that if only my parents had done this while I was a kid this wouldn't be misery now. I wouldn't be pacing around at night crying b/c my fillings hurt. I wouldn't need extractions and oral surgery b/c they failed me.
Damn parents.
I promise to do better for my children.

sounds GREAT jennie :(
fillings shouldnt hurt *that* much. they can be sore for sure, but it shouldnt really require pain meds (at least i was never in that situation).  i'd probably call in just to be sure there isnt anything wrong.

I imagine it is not the fillings that hurt, but all the trama to your mouth. You are having a heck of a lot of work done in a short period of time. I am sure there is imflammation, etc.

If it really hurts that bad I would call the office.

OMG, how awful!

I had a filling a couple of years ago and it hurt for about 2 days, then the pain went away.  But your muscles must be really sore too!  Take some drugs!  And if I were you, I'd be asking for some Valium or Xanax for the next appointment.

I am thinking about it, Alison. When one of the hygienist came in and asked if they needed anything I wanted to scream for whiskey. That would have helped. Its doing okay today. Where I had the extraction last week is sore because of having to contort my face and having the suction. Ow. I promise not to do this again.

You're most likely 100% right, Melissa. This is a lot of work in such a short time. I get a break though. I don't go back until the 1st for the third half and then again on the 8th for the last third of the fillings. Then the wisdom teeth. I don't know what I was thinking bundling all of this close together!
