Do you have a brand preference?  Real maple syrup or the fake stuff?  Do you like your pancakes and waffles drowned in syrup, or with just a little?

I recently tried authentic, organic maple syrup for the first time, and did NOT like it, LOL.  The high fructose corn syrup horrible for you generic stuff on my organic hemp waffles is awesome!  I like my pancakes and waffles to be soaked with syrup.  When I get pancakes at IHOP, I need plenty of their butter pecan syrup.  That is one of the things I miss the most since being off dairy!

I really only like Log Cabin syrup. The real stuff, blech!!

I'm a dipper. I don't like it poured on top.

i like walmarts butter flavored. I just bought a name brand (dont remember which atmh) and dont like it as much. Real stuff I havent had since the seventh grade when I went to canada and to a factory.

I like my pancakes drenched in it. My waffles more than a little but less than a lot

I prefer the real stuff. We went through a phase right before we moved where that was all we would buy. But it's expensive and we were on a budget so we went back to the high fructose stuff and we go through so much--Ethan is a pancake/syrup addict--that we haven't switched back.

I like a good amount. Not too much, not too little. Definitely not butter flavored. If I want butter flavor, I'll smear some actual butter on it.

Bill and I only eat real maple syrup, but we aren't brand specific. I buy it at sams or BJs.

I only like a little. The girls insist on having theirs drenched. Bill is middle of the road. We do have Aunt Jemima in the house as well, and the girls like that well enough (though they both prefer maple), and Bill is fine with it too if need be. I can't stomach it and will sprinkle brown sugar on a waffle before I will use it.

It is expensive, but we don't seem to go through it too quickly, so I don't mind.

I should look for a non HFCS syrup for the girls. I switched to Nesquik because it doesn't have HFCS and I am slowly switching out all of the other major culprits as well...

So why exactly is HFCS bad? From what I can tell it's really no different from table sugar. Has is just gotten a bad rap?

watch that documentary "king corn"

HFCS seems to be a contributing factor to diabetes and obesity, and it's in EVERYTHING, and it's contributing to the insanity of the country's corn industry.  (it sounds like i'm bitter about HFCS - i'm not at all - i do avoid it in our foods though).

it also has been shown to contain mercury.

Aunt Jemima here.

Not a fan of the real stuff.

I put my syrup on the side and dip and I hardly actually use it. Allie does the same. We dip here.

I can't do anything other than the real thing anymore. Once upon a time, I would've said only Mrs. Butterworth's... but it's funny how one's palate can change over time.

I bought some delicious maple syrup a while ago that was infused with habanero pepper... it was to die for -- but way too expensive to eat on a regular basis. (The girls didn't like it, though. LOL!)

The girls eat the bulk organic stuff that I buy at the store.

Speaking of things that sound disgusting but are delicious, I got a jar of lavender honey for Christmas. It is super yummy in fage before bed -- it feels super decadent, but isn't.

Usually, I just buy it in the bulk section at our grocery store. Nothing special.

Something else I love in fage is preserves of any kind... but particularly apple butter.

Do you do the 0%? I tried, but couldn't quite love it. Once I moved to the 2%, I was in heaven...

2% is the one I eat. I love it. It is like ice cream to me now. I need to try the apple butter. I have not tried that one.

They were sampling it with apple butter at my grocery store.

My nutritionist suggested mixing it with a ranch dressing mix for a higher protein, healthier alternative to ranch dressing. I tried it with the 0%, and it sucked. laughing.gif

by fage, you mean the greek yogurt right? i dont love fage at ALL, but i REALLY love chobani. it's wayyyy thicker, even the nonfat.  they have a delicious vanilla flavor too.  i dont even mix anything in (though apple butter sounds great - will try that).

i also like it with dried cranberries and nuts.
