coupon exchange girls, check in please!

hey girls!

so the coupons came back to me today, which means they made the full circle.  i thought it would be a good idea to check in and see how everyone feels about how it's going.

my input at this point...

  • there are SOOO many expireds in here that we're paying to ship unusable coupons - i know i got them right after the 12/31 expiry, but at least half were expired today
  • most of what is in here are meds like colace and tylenol - blech
  • there are a lot of Qs in here that i PAID for on ebay over the past month or so - that makes me think that there has to be a more practical way to do a coupon exchange (since i needed them, others didn't, and now they're trash since they're expired)
soooo, that leaves me wondering if anyone has any idea of how to improve this?  it took about 6 weeks for the Qs to circulate through everyone.

my first thought is that maybe we should just each have a running "ISO" sticky thread somewhere (a la afullcupdotcom) so that we can quickly glance through what others need and just send them to whoever is looking for them.

i'd love to hear from everyone!

I only found a few that I could use out of the gazillions in the envelope and like you said, many that were expired. I wouldn't do another exchange like that but I'd be interested to see if another way would work better.

Also, I've found that I usually have enough of the coupons I need just from the ones I get in the mail and the circulars that my mom gives me from her papers. If there's a REALLY good deal, I'll order a few from dede.

ITA with a master have and need list.

Im seeing tons I started with when you sent it here or ones I sent out that no one wanted.

I dont want to circle them several times if no one will use them.

Ive already shipped mine out a second time. I dont know who has ours currently.

I sorted through expires the day I got it. However, I am opting out. It cost me more money to ship it on then the coupons I even took from it.

I think an ISO type of exchange would be easier.

They made it to me and I shipped them to Chrissie yesterday. smile

Also, I think I'm opting out as well.

I was able to pick out around 10 that I wanted. So is it worth it? Probably not so much. I also probably don't have time to make a giant list of what coupons I have so I guess that means I'm out from this point forward. I think the reason ours took so long was that when the envelope came to me it had a $.34 COD envelope which I never saw until the post office sent another one, so I couldn't get the coupons until I'd paid the COD. SORRY!!!

I didn't take out the 12/31 expired ones because many stores will accept coupons within a couple weeks of expiration.

I have no brilliant ideas to make this easier.

i am opting out too...clipping tons of coupons just to ship them "in case" someone wanted them took way too much time and money.

i think i will just stick with ordering what i need, but i am glad we tried it!

AH! I'm so sorry! I took it to the post office and used their machine thingy. I have no idea why it didn't apply the right postage.

I would also be out of a chain type of thing. My thought is there are only a few things that I use name brands of routinely. Otherwise I use whatever is on sale or (more likely) I shop at Aldi.

My thought is ... I know that April uses Huggies (right?) and I don't so I am happy to mail my Huggies coupons to April. I can't remember anyone else's but if we have a quick list of main items that people use I can

Can we start a basic thread with only our top 5 ISO coupons and if we have them we can mail them out?

No worries!  Totally not your fault.  I have no idea why it didn't calculate the correct postage.  It's not like to just slapped a bunch of stamps on there.  Since I could see it was a post office generated stamp I think they simply should have delivered it as it was their error!!

I also only took a handful of coupons out of the envelope! It's really not worth the postage to ship them.

I have no ideas on how to make it better.

just a side note on the machines at the post office. if its more than a quarter of an inch or half an inch thick it is a package not an envelope and postage is more. Ive had tons of stuff returned to me from the post office this way.
