I really really want this one from Pb, but it is soooo expensive but I found this one from JC Penny and it is reasonable. but, I am sure I will regret it, right? also, I can't see it in person so I would have to order it sight unseen. Or I could go with this couch, which I have seen in person. wdyt?
Things that suck about a sectional (I didn't look at yours, this is just my experience.)
~ They take up a shit ton of space.
~ They are heavy. Do you like to move stuff around? Newsflash: I do. With a sectional, freaking forget about it. A) They are huge (see item 1) and b) you're floor planning is limited, unless your living room doesn't have windows, cable/electric outlets, doors, etc.
~ Have you ever lost your phone inside the couch cushion? Sucks to get out, huh? Now, imagine losing it between the connectors on a sectional. Good luck moving that 1200 lb. pos.
~And reconnecting it alone? With all your hair staying attached to your scalp? And remaining married if your husband is kind (aka stupid) enough to offer to help? FOR-Freaking-GET about it.
Things that are great about a sectional:
They look nice. Until you get frustrated about the above, and start counting down the days until you can afford a different couch.
If the corner is rounded, behind it makes an awesome fort and/or hiding place for crap when people stop by unexpected.
Our house is small. I hated our sectional from the moment it landed in our house. I'm ecstatic to be rid of it, and actually felt guilt when a friend bought it.
What kind of space is it going in? Is it where the fireplace is? I like them all, but wonder how brave you are with a light color. Pet hair will show on it and then there is the child factor. But then again, maybe it is not an issue for where it will be.

lol...thanks Leah! Just what I wanted to hear. I can let go of my sectional obsession :) I really love to move furniture around and I know that I would be limited....but it is so damn comfortable..(the pb one - which I can't afford).

It will be in our tv room and the room is 15x20 (I decided against combining the dining room/family room) so it will be upstairs in our "family room". right now, we have the most uncomfortable futon known to man (which I loved in the beginnning and now hate..lol) which is my fear. I always buy on impulse and soon hate the piece.

Liz, I have a thought for you. I am struggling with what to do with my living room because it is so narrow, etc. I am thinking about getting two love seats instead of a sofa but before I actually buy them I am going to look into renting them. If it's not too much I think it would be worth it just to be able to see what it would look like even if it isn't the exact color or style.

I wish I still had my craigslisting for that POS.
It would cure your sectional fever.
I remember your ad for that, leah...it was hilarious and I was going to nominate you for the best of craigslist :)

where would you rent them from?
Aaron's rental is here. You can see if it's near you.
i LOVE sectionals. it's true that they're more limiting b/c they can't just fit anywhere, but they are so awesome with so much seating!
as for leah's cons, i have moved mine MANY time alone and we've never lost anything inside of it.
i LOVE both that you posted! i have been drooling over the pb ones for years. i am even considering working there part time over the summer just for the 40% discount! :P
i think yo'll regret white. i really like the sage colored ones. i was looking at something VERY similar from bob's discount furniture - i think it was like $500. we're waiting another 6 mos - 1 yr though. i like sectionals if you have the space. otherwise it's a very cramped feeling. i love the chaise sectionals - especially bc i'm so short - that chaise part is like full length for me. we have small spaces here so i think we might go with that.

That's exactly us too with the chaise. That's what we are going to get and it totally fits me as well. It will give us equal or more seating area and take up less space than what we have now!
Interesting. We're buying a sectional for our next couch. Hopefully some time this year if all our major appliances and cars stop breaking.
lol - this is totally us. a new couch when a THOUSAND other things break, are replaced, break again, etc.
Seriously! We had the fridge repaired - hundreds of dollars but still cheaper than buying a new one and we love the one we have. Then my car needed a bunch of repairs. Buh-bye couch! But maybe we can get one with our tax return. We'll see.
Looking at the ones you like, they are (much) lower backed than my sectional was, which probably makes up for some of the weight distribution... Also, something to look into is how it connects. (That that JcPenny one connects in 6 places gives me a headache just to think about.) Had our sectional slid together nicely, it would have been great, but it had a screw and hole insert, and it took hours to get together. In fact, I'm pretty certain that for the whole last year we had it, it wasn't put together, just pushed together.
I wanted a sectional my entire life, but it just didn't work for my lifestyle (which apparently means losing 300% more stuff in my couch than the average person.)
I guess more of my point should be that I wouldn't get it online - there are a lot of factors that I didn't think about (but I know now) that I could have never figured out by looking online.
(Don't get me wrong, I still won't touch another sectional with a 10 foot pole, though. I'm not recanting that statement. lol.)
