Don and I went to the Houston Ballet to see The Nutcracker--thanks to Bethany buying us tickets for Christmas.
I spent ALL.DAY. yesterday looking for a dress and by the end of the day I was completely humiliated and embarrassed at how much weight I have gained this year, it made finding a dress that looks nice VERY difficult. I finallly found a black Calvin Klein knee length that I just said screw it over and didnt even bother to try on because I was so damn frustrated...needless to say, If I gain once more ounce (even with my god-awful girdle) it aint gonna fit either.
Anyway....the ballet was wonderful! We had great seats. Unfortunately I ended up with a migraine and during the 2nd act, I was just wishing it would be over soon because there was WAY too many perfume/cologne smells floating around the theater....and the fact that stupid biotch in front of me decided she needed to spray herself during the first act surely didn't help :eyeroll:
Anyway, overall it was a great afternoon and I will definately take the opportunity to go see another show.

Next up on my to-do list...an opera
are you kidding me? she sprayed herself during the show?!?!??!!? that is the rudest thing!!! glad you enjoyed it - i'd love to see a ballet - it's been literally ages.
Yay! I am glad you enjoyed it (in spite of the headache).
I absolutely love going to the opera! Does houston have a professional opera company?
I would think so...I should look into it.
One thing I miss about Houston i all the things that are available--both things that cost (aquarium, zoo, children's museum, etc, which I told Don last night we will be going to in the spring before it gets too hot), but also the things you can do for free (parks, walking and browsing the theater district, going to galveston, Kemah boardwalk, etc). Not that we really did much when we lived there (I am realizing lately even more how little Don and I have in common), but living where we do is so friggin boring to me...he on the other hand loves it here, i HATE redneckville. I'm not a "proper, educated, refined, lady" but I have NEVER fit in here...which is why after 8 1/2 years of living here I still don't have any friends--acquaintences, but not FRIENDS.
I am not an opera expert but I do love going. I just looked ip the shows and the one in Jan looks good. Puccini is usually good. I was really hoping for la triaviatta which is my favorite.
