I'm obviously excited for Christmas morning with the kids.

I'm also excited for the general family hoopla - at Mike's parents we have 7 grandkids under 7 (and one 11 year old) so it's always chaos but this year, both of our kids are old enough that we don't have to watch them the whole time so it will be more enjoyable.

And at my house, my sister's little guy is 14 months and walking and they'll have a great time together with him.

Also, my brother and sister-in-law will be home from out west for the holidays. So excited! We really miss them.

so, I made a big effort yesterday and got a lot of my list taken care of.

I only have to buy big gift for Charlie and Josie, something for Jonah, and a few gift cards.

Not bad for only really starting yesterday.

Go me!

The kids!

This is the first year that we're actually more financially stable than we've ever been so its great that we can give the kids a better Christmas than ever before.

But more importantly- I'm excited about now that Colin is older he can grasp a better concept of what Christmas is all about  in terms of Jesus and celebrating His birth.

We are snowed in.

The A'ville area got between 7-15".

They finally reopened I-40 and I-26 and are helping stranded motorists get back on the road this morning.

They are calling for a rain/snow mix today.
A rain/snow mix tomorrow.

Yikes!!

Overall we had 9 1/2" at our place last night!!! This isn't close the 1993 snow storm. That brought in 18.5". I remember that b/c I was moving from PA to NC then right in the middle of that mess.

But we're stuck up on our little hill until the road is cleared off by some idiot neighbor of ours desperate to get off the hill for something.

Good morning!

I am looking forward to the day itself.  We will have my brother and mom here with the four of us.  It's kind of a relaxed laid back day, which we rarely have.  Elizabeth is slow to open her presents so we may be watching her open them all day. giggle.gif  It's just nice to not have an agenda.

I'm not sure - I'm so excited about everything.

on a not so happy note I woke up this morning when my doorbell rang at 5:30. It was the police. They caught some car burglers in our neighborhood and they followed their tracks in the snow so our car. they totally went through my minivan (glove box, storage thingy, etc...). luckily i didn't have much in there except a non-working satellite radio i bought on clearance at target. (and garbage - my van is a mess).

I'm glad they didn't get into dan's car. We have a few Christmas prezzies in there still from the other night.

of course today is the day my kids slept until 7:00.

Boo!  I am glad they didn't get anything but it's always so violating when that happens.  We had that happen here before.  My car is always a mess and is the mom taxi.  I had a bag of chocolate teddy grahams in the car.  My neighbor two doors down found them in his truck.  I guess they wanted a snack. lmao.gif

I am not sure what to do here.  I sent my swap gift out and according to the tracking, it was delivered on Wednesday.  I haven't heard anything.  Should I ask my swap partner?  I just want to make sure they got it.

I am most excited for Christmas morning-I love how excited they get. It is just so cute!!!

I should be excited about other things, but that is mostly what I look forward to. And the day after when we finally have some time to breathe and can just relax and really look at what we got from Santa!

How is everyone liking the snow over here on the east coast?

I hate it. Bill just measured and we are currently at 17" at our house, and it is still coming down hard. I am not sure how many more inches we are supposed to get, but I know we will be over 2 ft.

Sorry-that is just too much. The girls can't move outside, we can't go anywhere, it sucks.

But, we are finally watching the SYTYCD finale while the girls are "resting", which is to say they are in their rooms.

Thank goodness we haven't lost our power at this point. I know the day is young yet, but I am keeping out hope that we don't lose it. At this point, there is no way we could make to my parents' house (they have a generator) or my ILs house, so if it goes out, we are going to be snuggling under blankets.

I guess I won't be getting much for Christmas. Bill had barely started shopping!!! And online shopping won't do much good at this point, since no one can even get in the neighborhood to deliver anything.

I wonder how long the digging out will take?

I remember in 2003 (I think), we got something like 27" and school was canceled that entire week. My dad called it and he was right, we had off the whole week. But I would like to get back out before Christmas day comes. I don't have the food I need to make Christmas dinner yet. I don't think that should be a problem though-but the girls are definitely not having school on Monday, that is for sure!!

Wow Supa! I'm in awe of your snow! I love snow but I definitely feel you on this Christmas week tough week to be snowed in. We had a massive winter storm with 75 mph winds two weeks ago and we were without power for 48 hours I was MISERABLE, and we had a generator and a fireplace but man it's just tough!

Edited to add, what state are you in again?

I'm most looking forward to our huge Christmas eve party at my mama's and Christmas morning.

Every year we do a big party at my mama's with her awesome sausage bread and lots of other goodies. We exchange family gifts and it's just a wonderful time.

I'm so excited to see Bryson's reaction. He has seen some of his toys in our closet up on the shelf and he's SO excited. He points and when I close the closet slider he opens it LOL! He see's his gifts wrapped in lala (Elmo) paper and he's just bursting with excitement. And of course Hannah is just BEYOND thrilled. I'm so excited to see their reactions. I'll tell you Christmas has such a different meaning with little ones running around heart.gif I'm so happy!

I'm in MD-near Annapolis.  It is crazy the amount of snow we have!!!

That is absolutely horrid to be without power that long in a snow storm!!!!  I am praying we don't have any problems with ours!!

We have lots to bake too-not like there is anything else to do-we can't go anywhere, and the snow is too high to even play in anyway, you know???  Might as well bake!!
