I need a hobby. I really want to get into couponing, but I really need to get my stock of coupons built. I don't have any hobbies at this point.

So what do you do? What are your hobbies?

I take pictures and scrapbook. I have one meelion sheets of paper and just about every embellishment you can think of. I love it. I'm super behind right now but it's still so much fun and I love preserving our memories. I mainly do my kids but I am working on a wedding album for my mom.

my favorites are knitting and taking pictures.  i also do various crafts (like my felting kick, my painting kick, etc).
taking pics is probably my favorite thing hobby-wise, but i never know what to do with the pictures.  i am looking into some frameless mounts and just ordered a ton of pics, but i seriously dont know what i'll do with them, and it gets pricey.  *sigh*

oh also, i'm back into reading. i decided that fiction is just not grabbing me right now, so i'm back into exclusively non-fiction.  i'm reading a lot within my career (developmental psych books, abnormal psych, cognitive, etc) but also a lot not career-related (religion, and lately i'm back into my old philosophy stuff).  the second i "let go" of the whole fiction thing, i've been really delving in.

Reading
Cooking/Baking
Taking pictures

Related to that, I also like looking through food mags/online for new recipes. and I want to put together an album of pictures since Ethan's been born--I have thousands of digital images to go through. It's going to take me forever.

I also want to get back into writing. But it's hard to get more than a few minutes to myself. And when I do have free time, I spend it watching TV or surfing online.

I'd love to learn to knit too. Because I could do that while I watch TV. ;)

you should learn how to crochet instead of knit.  crocheting you literally dont even have to look down once you're in a groove.  knitting, you can do by feel, but it's so much slower that you end up just staring at your work as you go.
as for putting together an album - HUGE JOB. i was doing one for rachel and i finally decided i had to give a cutoff date - i did the first three years of her life in one album, and then i'll do another (ages 3-6) around her 6th bday.  i figure if i chunk it out like that i wont be as overwhelmed. it's SUCH a huge project.  ug.

My goal this year is to get into knitting and sewing

I love reading, but have not done much of it as late.

That is really about it right now in life. I have zero time these days and I feel like I need a hobby that does not take up a huge chunk of time.

I need to make losing weight a hobby, lol

Reading
crocheting
music (I mostly play my flute, but occasionally I'll play piano, clarinet, or violin. I wish I had more instruments to choose from in my house)
teaching (although this I don't usually do unless I'm asked, but I do enjoy teaching what I love any time)
organizing (this is very relaxing and makes me feel good when I'm done)
belly dancing
math (I know I'm crazy, but I do occasionally take out a math book and randomly work the problems for fun)
logic puzzles
puzzles
infant massage
study midwifery

I'm sure I could come up with more if I thought about it enough. Obviously I have way more that I like to do than I have time for. Even if I didn't have kids at home I'd never have enough time for all I like to do.

Baking
Crafting (mostly still felt :dork: )
Running

and most recently sewing. My mom got me a sewing machine for Christmas and I've finally figured out how to use it. I'm obsessed with it now, it's a total stress reliever and doesn't keep me out of the house.

I never thought of couponing as a hobby.

I make candles, soaps, bath salts, and beaded jewelry.
I crochet though I've never actually finished a project.
I sew.

Right now I'm making Chrismons (ornaments of the purely religious type) for the tree at church. I will probably never look at another bead again after that. Something about 1600 beads and mass quantities of hot wire. No more, no more.

I need to make our Advent wreath. I have the stuff outside of the porch ready to go. We opted to make one from nature! I just need to go and get the stuff and start working on it.

ETA-
Durh...

Baking.  Especially my infamous cheesecakes...But I bake all kinds of stuff- Whatever, whenever, with whatever I have left.

And I read- fiction- vampires. Sookie Stackhouse, L.A. Banks..Some Laurell K. Hamilton and some J.R. Ward but I just couldn't get into J.R. Ward's series that well to get grooving on them.

I also drive people crazy but I'm not sure that's a bonefied hobby.

Making wreaths

start with a hook and a ball of yarn.  it could be like a $5 investment. go to youtube and check out what to do.  you can make anything straight (scarves, etc) - and they come out a bit better bc they dont scroll up like knitted stuff (with knitting, you can really only stockinette a scarf or else it scrolls up - sorry if i'm getting lingo-y :dork).

crochet is a BIT limiting bc you wouldnt necessarily crochet a sweater, but i LOVE knitting afghans, i love doing granny squares, and i'm into these amigurumi dolls now, thanks to jennie (i started a cat one last night and am already done with the form for the head and half the body).

http://stitch.hellooperator.net/free-patterns/amigurumi-doll/

i think crocheting is MUCH easier than knitting, and less of an investment timewise. it's a good place to start.  i TOTALLY wish you were still local, i'd be there today to teach you. i love teaching. i'm actually worried bc R is a lefty and i feel like it's going to be tricky to teach her when she's older!!

I need to make scrapbooks my hobby since I still have Raven's baby book that my sil started for me and I haven't put a single picture in it.

Scanning photos of Stephen that I started a year or so ago. This feels more like work to me.

I don't think I have a real hobby. I would love a craft room where I could spread things out and have separate areas for my projects and Ravens.

I do most of my hobby like stuff with Raven. I guess Raven is my hobby.LOL

http://www.weekendkits.com/boye-beginner-crochet-kit.html

Try this simple kit. There are several beginner patterns in the book that you can do after learning the very basic stitches. Just buy a skein of yarn and go to it.

Once you learn those basic stitches and learn the abbreviations and how to read a pattern, you will be AMAZED what you can make....skirts, sweater, tank tops, camis, i've seen crochet thongs...and of course the usual bags, scarves, hats, doilies, pillows, afghans, baby items.

For me it's super stress relieving.

Good luck and anything you make, share your pics smile

ETA...that little kit is available at WalMart for less than $12

that is kind of how I feel.

DH and I had a convo at lunch a few weeks ago and I told him he has his fishing, hunting, etc. and those were his hobbies.  At this point in my life I'm not really in a position to have a hobby - my kids are my hobby - taking them to the zoo and museum and painting, coloring, playing, etc. with them.  But, I don't feel like I'm missing something by not having a hobby like his that takes him out where he does an activity completely separate from the family.  I'm right where I'm supposed to be and know that in a few years when my littlest ones are more independent I will have time to pursue hobbies.

I love to read (and have actually been reading more this last 6 months than the last 4 years) and I'm loving my new camera and imagine taking classes to learn how to really use it and edit photos.

Thread jack

I am totally yarn challenged and I think one of the reasons is that my grandmother and mother who have both tried to teach me are lefties and I so dominant right handed that I have trouble using a fork with my left hand LOL
