Oh how funny you ask.

We took the girls today for Mia's 1 year pics and Christmas ones. I was ready to pull my hair out. It did not go well at all. Mia would not sit and wanted nothing to do with it. We managed to get a few, but none that I am in love with. I will post them tomorrow. We have to go back tomorrow to get the disk and the rest of them.

Man was it hard.

You should post the good ones that you have. Sometimes you think they are not great, but are good.

I gave up last year on a good shot of all of them together and did a card with an individual picture of each of them. Saved me a lot of headaches!

i might resort to this.  i have some BEAUTIES of them individually -- but i was a dumbass and posted those on FB - LMAO. so they arent new to anyone who would be on my christmas list. ug - stupid!

here are some potentials, and i just love this solo shot of rachel so i included that too (took it yesterday).  i sent some to alicia to see if she could skootch them more together like she did last year - if she doesnt have time, these are really fine, but i dunno, i feel like i could get something better kwim??

eta: also added in a pic of my curls lately with morrocanoil - ha!! it's getting curlier and curlier, and less and lesss frizzy - they werent kidding about this stuff taking a few weeks to kick in!

sounds like a nightmare!!! i have yet to attempt professional pics - i think my kids would have to be like 10 yrs old for it to be even remotely possible - i actually attempted walmart yesterday for a portable dvd player (we're gonig to the cape and i NEED them to have movies to watch - the trips up there this summer were BRUTAL in the car) - and cara completely took off - i said "cara that's how kids get lost!" and she goes "no  - that's how OTHER kids get lost!!" and i said "cara i dont think that's funny" and she goes "yes you do!" - aye yi yai!!!!  such a back-talker!! i couldnt even IMAGINE us getting pics done!!

holy crap, kelly, cara is a CHARACTER! LOL!

for xmas for my in-laws, we hired a photographer to do a big group family picture of our family, matt's parents and matt's stepbrother and his family. they will be doing individual family pictures and kid pictures too. part of the package includes 2 cds with 50 edited images - one for each family. my hope is that they can get a decent picture of the kids i can use on a card this year.

if not, i'll use the one in my sig unless i get a better one in time.

btw, kelly, i don't think anyone would even notice they had seen the xmas card picture before. i know a lot of people try to make it a new one, but if it's not, i think it's perfectly fine for it to be the best one from the year, kwim?

yeah i think youre probably right. i get a little nuts about pics of the kids - i totally want it to be something no one's seen -- but it's so hard to get a good shot.  that's great that youre getting professional shots done - exciting!!

we are done with ours. I took about an hour to take pics and just went with whatever we had. 3 kids to look and smile at once is not an easy task.

I tried last weekend to get a christmas card shot. I don't usually do photo cards but was going to redeem reward points. I've decided not to skip the cards and do a photo book with the points instead. Your hair looks great.

Ugh i'm dreading this. Bryson will not conform to my picture taking wants and needs. LMAO! Hannah posey perfect. Bryson, not so much. Buckets of drool pouring out of his mouth as he runs away are the shots I get lately. I'm thinking i'll try to get a good individual shot of both and then pick a card that I can do two pics on, unless a miracle happens and I get a good shot together. I have some ideas and tricks up my sleeve and will probably be taking pics this weekend.

LMAO...yea, that age is SOOOO tough to get.  If you're up for it. a few things to try. You know those long feather dusters? I use them as ticklers...they like that. Have someone help you if you need to. Tickle him, then jump out of the way and snap.

Also, having someone tickle mommy is also very funny smile

Double sided sticky tape on his hands. They will sit and try and try to get it off their hands.

What kind of camera do you have?? If you have one you can add a flash onto the top of, a pez dispender fits in there really nicely. Just slide it into the hot shoe, and say "Can you see "pez" ??? Where's the "pez" ???

Will he give you 5? You can also try this...

"Give me 5" when he gives you five squeal "owwww"

Tape a quarter to your forehead and ask him to blow it off. Also, balance a toy on your head and do the same.

Anyways, a few things to try. Good luck.

OMG - you should have seen us at the studio. Mia would not sit and wanted nothing to do with it. Wait to you see the only shot we have of them in their Christmas outfits.

Ugh, where were you when I needed you. That tape idea is brilliant. Mia would not sit, period. She wanted nothing to do with posing. She wanted to walk around and see things. I cannot complain since I went to one of those photo markets, PI. I mean it was mass chaos in there and the girl did not do real great at trying to get Mia to pose.

Yea, they don't like posing. As a matter of fact, they do the complete opposite! But, I won't chase them, either, so you have to figure out how to keep them where you want them. Also, hiding little candies in the ruffles of dresses works (smarties). They work SOOO hard to get them out smile and will hold them up to show you.

GREAT ideas Michelle! I'm sure with your ideas and mine I can get at least one good shot! LOL. I'm planning on getting a big ornament from Wal-Mart and using that to give to him to hold, he likes stuff like that. I'm also going to do the pictures on top of a table, on carpet of course and i've done that before and it works really great. He knows theres an edge to the table and with dh helping I should be able to keep him up there. Probably wouldn't be a great mom moment if he fell off... I'm not even going to try to take them somewhere, I think he would cry, he is NOT into strangers right now.

Yep, those are two other things you can do. Give them something to hold and "contain"them...buckets and baskets work well also...even for his age (esp for his age)

A table would would not stop Mia. She would dive off it. Yeah, Mia was not into having them touch her either. She was find if they looked from a distance.

I hope you get your shot. The ornament may work. Mia liked holding something, but she would not look up.

Hmmm... maybe I could make a present box... I have a picture of Hannah at about the same age from sears and she is in a box that looks like a present. I wonder if I wrapped a box in fabric and put a bow on it if I could make that work. He likes to be in boxes.
