I want to get Rich some kind of toy this year. I was thinking maybe those remote helicopter or car. He is not into these, but I think he would like them. He seems to always look at them and I have been trying to think of something that he can play with.

Any suggestions? I do not want to buy the top of the line since he is not a die hard with these things, but I do want it to work and be cool.

Do you get your DH something fun for Christmas?

I don't know yet if Kent and I are doing gifts for each other this year, we might just focus on the kiddo's because our budget is awfully tight... but I have to say, Kent is obsessed with his radio control trucks! He has 3 now and he loves them. He goes out driving them on Sundays with one of his buddies, it's his man time. He buys all his stuff from Tower Hobbies and they have some pretty reasonably priced beginners trucks, you know ones that are not insanely tricked out, Kent's last one was over $400 he only got it because he got a bonus at work ; ) Just wanted to share, I bet Rich would love one if he likes radio control stuff. If it's something your interested in, I could probably have Kent recommend a good one.

Can Kent recommend one? I am not spending no 400 though. I was thinking something like that or those helicopter things. The small ones.

Does anyone have one of them?

My brother spent 1,000 on his RC and that didn't include the special controller he was getting. He had one of the helicopter(not sure which one or how much) but didn't get that much use out of it. I think a ground RC would be better.

yikes - I had no clue these were that much money.

Ok, ground one it is. Now to figure out a good and reasonable priced one.

Melissa - the Air Hogs helicopters that you can get at Target are really cool.  They have different styles.

I've seen lots of kids with them and they're easy to control.

Years and years ago when I didn't have $20 to my name, I saved up and bought a $150 remote control helicopter from hammacher schlemmer for Rob for Christmas.

We took it out and launched it and after about 30 seconds it flew into the ground and smashed into pieces.

Saddest day of my wallet's life. LMAO.

Learn from me please, small and inexpensive is the way to go.

This is a guy who spends 800 on train engines(large scale ones) so not a good example of how much to spend.  The RC he got is a large jeep set up for rock crawling like a mini real one.  You don't have to go expensive on RC(especially the first one).  If he gets into it he can upgrade.

Melissa, there are way cheaper ones then $400, Kent comes home from Nascar today and i'll ask him for some tips :) Something cool about the trucks well at least Kent thinks its cool is you can do modifications and if it breaks you can pretty well fix it yourself, Kent has gotten really good at it. Can make gift giving easy too, just get them a gift card to Tower Hobbies or whichever hobby store you choose for them to get more fun stuff.

Thanks, I am reading reviews and I just was not sure what was even good. I would have died if that had happen.

I am going to get one of those air hogs. Thanks
