do you actually spend money and buy stuff to play these games?
this scamming stuff sounds horrible!
(i dont play, but i noticed when i birthday popps up i can spend a dollar to buy something the person a picture of a flower or whatever - THAT is a ripoff)
It takes me 10 minutes to play my games for the day (ie:use my energy/pick my crops) and I was actually just going through my applications on there and mass deleting. I am only leaving Mafia Wars and Farmville. Anything I have ever clicked on is in the list and it's crazy long.
An IRL friend of mine plays FV with me and our policy is that we don't spend real money for fake money. We do not spend our money for anything on the FB games whatsoever.
I've paid 5 bucks here and there throughout the months I've been playing MW
I don't feel like I've been scammed though. You don't "have" to pay in order to play the game and still have it be enjoyable, and I felt like I knew what I was doing when I paid Zynga to give me an extra boost in the game.
I figured spending $5 for the evening was about the same price as going to a bar and having a drink, renting a movie, etc., and it was what I was choosing to do for my entertainment at the moment.
Also, I'm not saying the article is not true and I did watch the video, but this statement gives me pause about it
Here's the pertinent transcript of the talk the CEO gave to some other developers at a mixer:
I would like to hear his entire speech before I judge the 1 1/2 minutes this reporter pulled out of it and say this guy is the 'd' word. It seems like it would be hard for that to be pulled out of context, but nothing would surprise me.
I'm not really defending anything here. Just stating that I've paid some money and I don't feel bad about it in the least because it was my choice and I don't blame Zynga for anything.
I figure that in all these games, the creators have to have some way to make their money, and it's my choice if I do it or not. Kind of just like the ads we see on here. They are annoying, but they don't bother me. Michelle needs them in order to run the board and she's not even making a profit on it.

good point -the more I think about it though it is no different then all these gamers that spend tons of money on Wii, PS, ect. I means people spend hours playing those and some big $$.
I just thought the CEO came off as a arse. I agree it could have been taken out of context, but dang.

ITA he sounded like an ass. I would be very interested to hear his entire speech and to also see what kind of audience he had, i.e., stuffy looking, etc. If this guy's not a good public speaker he could have been nervous speaking in front of a bunch of CEO's dressed in suits and ties and came off different than he intended.
:dunno
Too bad they couldn't have just shown the whole speech. That's going to drive me crazy now.
